AIBU to say that's not a belt buckle!

An unusual object has been found in a woman's grave that is 2,100 years old in Tuva, Russia. It looks like an I-phone but the reports say it is actually a belt buckle.

AIBU to say no-one would wear a buckle that size?

But if it isn't a buckle, what is it!?

It looks more like the lid of a box. The pictures only show one side of it, so without seeing what's on the other side, its hard to guess.

CherrySocks · 09/09/2019 22:26

It looks too heavy to be part of an outfit.

I would assume these people have specialised knowledge and have reasons to believe this. Otherwise what is the point of them?

HennyPennyHorror · 09/09/2019 22:41

If the archaeologists say it's a belt buckle I'd believe them. I'm sure they have more idea of ceremonial dress than we do.

Also...what spam filled trashy websites those links go to! Awful.

I think I may have watched too many Alien Astronaut Theory programmes! Grin

I was really hoping the archaeologists were trying to fob us off with a buckle instead of admitting it's a piece of extra-terrestrial technology!

If they REALLY found something weird, they wouldn;t even tell us OP. Grin

Now you mention it, that does seem the only plausible explanation for a polished rectangle of rock with some coloured stones set into it, placed on the waist.

Why is everything rectangular now described as looking just like an Iphone? From the comments below the article:

I just put a paving slab on my living room wall, no different to a 4k UHD TV. The picture is great.
