To book myself a business class flight for my bday?

Turning 40 next year, and flying to Cape Town a few weeks after for one of our holidays.

I really like flying and think this is a good enough excuse to fly (one way!) in business as a treat for my bday.

Would you do it?

Yes!

Witchinaditch · 08/09/2019 19:59

Have a fabulous time

GiveMeHope103 · 08/09/2019 20:00

Yes, why not! Enjoy.

MsVestibule · 08/09/2019 20:01

I did, to NZ, pre DH and DCs. When I had some money, before they drained me of it all 🙄.

Can you afford it? If so, go for it. Unless I win the lottery, I'll never do it again so I'm glad I took the opportunity when I did.

regmover · 08/09/2019 20:02

Definitely! I have travelled business class twice in my life and they are very happy memories.

yarboosucks · 08/09/2019 20:07

If you can afford it, then why not. Personally I would save the money and use that to buy something lovely in Cape Town. If we had bought my engagement ring in SA, the money saved would have paid for our flights to SA and the hotel..... So why not get something lovely to keep forever.

BykerBykerOoh · 08/09/2019 20:08

yes go for it!

666onmyhead · 08/09/2019 20:11

Save your pennies, as you might be able to blag an upgrade at the desk instead .hope you have a wonderful birthday and holiday !

Goldenglory · 08/09/2019 20:14

Yes I would do it in a heartbeat.

Skittlenommer · 08/09/2019 20:16

Agree with booking economy and blagging a last minute upgrade for cheap!

ethelfleda · 08/09/2019 20:42

I wouldn’t if it was me. But it’s your money OP!
I say this as I was upgraded on an emirates flight a few years back. I thought I’d hit the jackpot! And while it was very lovely - and definitely puts you off flying economy in future - I don’t think it is worth the money. It also depends on which airline?

areyoubeingserviced · 08/09/2019 20:46

Do it. It’s your birthday

GeorginaPilot · 08/09/2019 20:47

Of course! First class if you can afford it!

BeardedMum · 08/09/2019 20:50

I wouldn’t. You get there the same time as economy anyway. I don’t think business is worth it.

19lottie82 · 08/09/2019 20:50

Yes x 1,000,000

I have an AmEx card that I use for all our business costs. The points are usually enough to upgrade to business class one way with emirates for DH and I when we go on our annual holiday. I always get the rage flying back in economy though 😂

Goldenglory · 08/09/2019 21:29

@BeardedMum, I take it you’ve never flown business?

AriadneCrete · 08/09/2019 21:31

I would absolutely do it. Have fun!

underneaththeash · 08/09/2019 21:36

I hate flying in economy - upgrade.

LesLavandes · 08/09/2019 21:41

Yes do it!

BeardedMum · 09/09/2019 07:17

@Goldenglory, I fly business at least once a month for work so I have but would never pay for it with my own money.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 09/09/2019 07:19

I'd do it but on the way home instead as its harder to fly home and I'd appreciate it more.

Ginger1982 · 09/09/2019 07:43

Would you be leaving your travelling companions in economy or are you flying on your own?

Shmithecat2 · 09/09/2019 07:55

Yes, do it. We've flown business for the past two years thanks to DHs company, and we've both decided that its worth the sacrifice when we finally have to start paying for ourselves again.

Shmithecat2 · 09/09/2019 07:56

The look on some passengers faces when you rock up in club with a toddler in tow is priceless 😂

MrsDimmond · 09/09/2019 07:59

Who are you going on holiday with and where would they be sitting?
