To be pissed off with people who think its fun? to scratch cars down their whole lenght?

Hi, just need to get it off my chest.
Parked car in a nice market town to take DDs to the local park which has a paddling pool.
Had a lovely time there and after about 3hrs retured to the car to find 10!! whole lenght scratches down the nearside of the car.
They stand out like a sore thumb because it is dark blue, but i'm really pi**ed off about it.
Anyone know a good product that can get rid of them? Luckily they're not too deep but very unsightly.

use autoglym super resin polish and buff out some git regularly scratches my hubbys car at work

Oh how horrible Ripeberry. Poor you. There's a company called Chips Away who are quite good round here (it's a franchise so there may be one near you). I think even Halfords do a similar service now. Saves going through insurance and replacing whole panels of the car! Good luck.

Glad you posted this...Its just happened to our cars and even worse ..my parents and after we were saying what a nice road we live in.
Will try the polish. Dh was all doom and gloom 'it'll need a new panel' etc etc

Thanks for posting, was feeling really fed up as if my car was a sitting target for all the nutters, what with yobs throwing stones at it a few days ago.
Its only a bog standard Vauxhall Zafira for goodness sake!

Ripeberry. Its horrible and so cowardly - they know they wont get caught for it.

Scum....we lived on a dock for a while, that had metal railings. The local little sh*ts would know the top off them. Someone was game enough to ask them why they did it, and their response was "we like wrecking nice things".

Totally feel for you - parked my car in street last week while I went jogging with a friend (nice area of town). When I returned huge crosses etched all over bonnet. My car also dark blue - shows up really well (totally pi**ed too.) However, hubby used t-cut yesterday - think thats what its called, and has manages to remove/cover most.

This has happened to me before and it is really annoying. Good Luck in getting rid of them.

have you got a community police officer (or whatever they are called)? this is the sort of thing you can chat to them about and ask them to keep an eye out for those who are doing it

This happened to me where we used to live (idiot neighbour thought we'd objected to his planning permission, and we hadn't), also on a blue car; they really stand out on blue IMO. He bragged about it to other neigbours, but we couldn't do a thing about it (his word against ours).

It is really annoying, isn't it so no YANBU. Hope you have some success with the products people have suggested to disguise the scratches. If it isn't too deep you stand a good chance.

I'd try one scratch first, then look at it in good light a few hours later before tackling them all. I made my car look worse with my DIY efforts.

if they are down to the white primer underneath the couloured paint some coloured polish will blend them in a bit.
if they are not down to the white you will ba able to t-cut most of it out.
i believe t-cut is around £8/9 a bottle.

Dh says:

T-cut the whole area first as this strips the 'dead' paint away first which will make the paint absorb a coloured polish better.

(there are advanages of being married to a used to be boy-racer in your youth!)

god, whatever you do DONT try to touch them up, it will look awful!
failing the polish it would need the affected panels resprayed and they never get the same colour.

dont do it in the bright sun though because the polish will instantly bake onto he car and be a bitch to get off!
