To be afraid of the dating game

I’m out of it so long. Nearly20 years. I don’t even know where to start but I do know that I do t want any man living with me and my children or me with him . I want to keep my life with my children entirely separate but would love a man to enjoy some of my free time with. Where do people even begin? I’m scared as hell. I’m 44 by the way with the mind of a 30 year old although since my husband opted out of our marriage my confidence is a little shot . Thanks

Meet-up groups are good, as are any real life social groups or clubs.

Avoid dating websites like the plague. They've had their moment.

I totally understand as dating can be scary.

Go over to the Relationships board where there is a long-standing Dating thread.

Have a look at some dating apps & sites - my friends & me use Tinder & Plenty of Fish.
They are free. I do know people who've had long term relationships, marriage & children or even just been on some enjoyable dates with these sites.

If you're going to do OLD (online dating) you need some good photos of yourself, a short bio & to be aware of how to keep yourself safe when dating.
Meeting for a short coffee at first is probably best.

Look at other ways to meet men too - eg your local gym can be a good place - try classes that will be mixed such as HIIT, circuits, running club etc

There are local singles groups & social groups in my area, maybe there are near you as well.

Facebook can be another place to meet men eg through local interest groups such as local photography groups or political groups, or through reconnecting with old schoolmates etc

It's really hard to start off with, personally I get very nervous before dates!

I met a guy in a singles group who fell in love with me after just the third date & was continuously texting but I felt it was too much & ended it.
So I'm taking a short break from dating for now....
