Dd is in year 12 at college and there is a girl in her group who is quite open about her family struggling massively. At the moment she doesn't have the right equipment for the course and barely has the basics and is a bit upset and stressed about it.

I believe they have been told there is a bursary but it takes ages to process.

I am not well off at all and am a single Mother but my kid has been the kid without the things she needs and it is not nice.

It's a small college and they have the same three tutors repeatedly. Could i somehow send in some spare course equipment plus notebooks, pens, maths sets , calculators (pound shop had scientific ones!) to the college tutor as 'spares' somehow so that he can leave them in a tub for anyone who needs them or would that be ridiculous based on the age they are?
As a Mum if your college gave your kid equipment would it make you feel shit?

How can I do it without dd basically going in with a bundle and saying here's what you need. Or shouldn't I at all?

Help!

I would give them to DD, who could pass them off as her spare ones, she no longer needs herself.

Aww aren't you lovely Smile
Could your DD just casually offer this girl one thing to start? She could say something like "Could you find a use for this calculator at all? I've got 3 more at home." If the girl accepts she could continue with "Yeah my mum went a bit overboard when I started here buying loads of everything, don't suppose you need any pens and that do you?"

I think that's very kind of you and I would definitely do it. Just ask your DD to take them in and give them to her tutor as spares. I'm sure they'll appreciate it.
It's nice to do things to help other people and you're obviously a very kind person x
