To ask about the black mould on washing machine rubber rim

Have tried my best to clean it but still quite a bit which I can’t remove on the main rubber rim.
Maybe a silly question but it is safe to wash clothes in this. No chance of infection or anything? Need to do a washing tonight and it can’t really wait.. Thanks!

It will be fine to wash clothes in there. Spray some mould and mildew spray around the rim when you can, leave for an hour and wipe away. Repeat if you need to, but the best thing to prevent it happening again is to leave the washer door open slightly after you've finished to allow it to dry out x

Also check your heating element hasnt failed as mine did..no matter what you do washing with cold water creates mould..glass should be warm or hot depending on cycle..took me a month to figure out why my machines seal kept going black...had new seal and element fitted under warranty as mould could not be removed.

Eco washing powder makes it worse too unfortunately

I had the same build up of black mould in the soap drawer and the interior where the water comes in. There was only a small amount in the rubber round the door.
I removed the soap drawer and sprayed round the interior(where the water comes in) and also on the drawer itself left it an hour then set it on a cool rinse and all the mould disappeared and has not come back in the last couple of months.

So I am going to repeat the process every couple of months and that should stop any mould build up.

When we moved into our house, the previous owners left their washing machine but the whole rim was filled with mould. I tried cleaning it with everything I could think of but I couldn't get the stains off, so I ordered a new seal online and me and DH fitted it ourselves. I think it was about £15 so not expensive, and theirs loads of videos online of how to do it, just google it with what washing machine you have.
No build up of mould since! I leave the door and the detergent draw open when not in use and aim to give it a deep clean once a month e.g. proper clean of the seal, door and detergent drawer!
