What tv shows do you & your partner love/hate?

In response to another thread in which the OP cannot bear to watch bake-off without her husband I would like to know what shows you and your partner can’t stand the other watching? I mean they literally will not watch it and leave the room and it causes arguments?

My partner absolutely refuses to watch Poldark, or any other period type drama/itv drama type 6-part series thing. I have to watch them when he’s at work. Also he hates watching films he’s already seen, so all the fab films from the 80’s that I love we can never watch together as he’s seen them all.

I cannot, literally cannot stand salvage hunter, storage wars, millionaire listing or any of the other dross he loves watching. He gets up early at the weekend to watch them!!

There is a 2nd tv in the playroom but the kids watch that. I have thought about getting a tv in the bedroom neither of us like having technology in there.

What about yours? Do most couples disagree over the tv?

We have some joint-watches. Bake Off, Inside No. 9, Nailed It, Only Connect and Blown Away. It's fun not to cheat, but difficult!

Friends, he was tolerant the first probably 10 times I watched the re-runs, now he just gets pissed off, he also hates Hollyoaks, doesn't mind any other soaps but hates Hollyoaks with a passion!
He watches motorbike racing which is just mind numbingly boring and survival YouTube videos but he watches them on the TV, really boring ones of people filming themselves camping/cooking/hunting/building shelters, Soooo boring!

I love reality TV, dh wont watch any of it unless it’s SAS related. Dh also won’t watch period drama, any Rom Com’s and most films he’s seen on planes as he travels for work.

We have enjoyed watching Riviera, Killing Eve, Tin Star, Waco and Mr Robot together. We may start Game of Thrones next. Happy to watch Grand Designs, George Clark etc.

Dh likes to watch Helicopter ER, 24 Hours in A&E and anything medical. I am sometimes okay to watch this, sometimes want to zone out to inane reality tv!

Yes, what is it with men and SAS/survival type programmes? I hate that one where they basically just shout the f word a million times in the candidates faces until they break down. It’s just awful.

I record what I want and watch when OH is not around, the running commentary, big sighs, tuts are distracting. We have totally different tastes he is more national geographic kind of watcher. He gets most of the tv programmes I get an hour a night if I am lucky. Thank god for netflix and my kindle.

We have things we watch together (American Horror, Stranger Things, Oitnb etc) and then things we watch separately... He watches a lot of documentaries and wildlife things and I watch whodunnits and period dramas. Occasionally one of us will start watching something and realise the other would like it so we'll start watching it together. Or one of us will give up on something and the other will carry on.

Car programmes!! My DP watches them all the time and I find them so boring!

Either that or on Sundays we have to watch a 'sunday film' which is usually some super old Western or something like that and me and the kids sit there blankly watching it willing it to end.

He watches the Bake Off - it's not something I enjoy. I'm not one for real people on tv shows or reality shows in general. I want to turn my tv on and watch people act, not bore me about their cats, musical abilities, funny anecdotes, how they met their partner etc.

I watch shows like Mr Robot and some detective shows on my own - my husband likes a hero and a happy ending Grin.

We watch lots of things together - Succession, The Handmaid's Tale, The Deuce, Game of Thrones.

He is not keen on drama series such as The Cry or The Missing, where children die or get hurt. I think he finds it unnecessarily traumatic and upsetting. I can see why, but I like mysteries that hook me in emotionally, so I save them for when he's not around. I am also addicted to home improvement programmes and I know that he has an aversion to Kirstie and Phil .. and Kevin! However, he is very tolerant and rarely comments.

DH loves endless history documentaries which I just can't summon the interest for.
