To request that all the house spiders find another house??

Just that really. I'm not good with spiders and there was a tarantula in my yellow sister yesterday (no wonder I don't dust) and I've just put on my dressing gown and a black widow crept out of the arm.

I don't kill them, I just have to walk away silently screaming for fear the noise I make might alert them and all their friends to give chase.

I can count 7 on my ceiling right now.

Honestly? Can they go and find another house? AIBU to suggest there must be someone out there who would prefer these pets / house guests to me?

Yellow sisterGrin I bet she wasn't impressed.
Spiders don't like peppermint oil, put some in a spray bottle with water and go round the window sills and door frames etc, it works for me.

iklboo · 03/09/2019 20:42

They can come to ours if they like. We're spidey friendly here. Grin

Poor spiders....

To request that all the house spiders find another house??
ScoobyCan · 03/09/2019 21:05

Thank you for the tip @vampirethriller - I will certainly try that!

@iklboo - I shall entice them into a spider approved carry case and send them on! PM me your address...

@IsobelRae23 - you know - that's actually quite cute! I like the fact there are only two eyes - it's the multitudinous ones, and the ones on their legs (boak) which utterly terrify me. Despite the fact I can't actually see them unless I get much closer which obviously I tend not to do...

It's OK @ScoobyCan - just tell them my name & they'll know where we are. Save you the postage.

StumpyinSomerset · 03/09/2019 21:17

Send them to me if you like,I like spiders.

Pimmsypimms · 03/09/2019 21:21

Yes as long as it's not mine, I've got enough of them here as it is!!!! Every bloody day one of the fuckers creeps up on me when I'm not expecting it, either on the stairs, in the bathroom, on the bloody coat I put in the car when it then promptly scuttled off to hide somewhere else, in the bloody car!!
They're everywhere and they're huge!!!
I've never really been too bothered by spiders, generally, but this is our first autumn in this house and fuck, I've never seen so many!!

RatWife · 03/09/2019 21:38

I don't seem too bothered by spiders in this house. It's in a town, old house and does have slugs. However I'd rather have slugs than spiders.

I wonder if the slugs eat the spiders? Or do the spiders not like the slugs?

My DF house is in the countryside, not as old, but has dozens of really really large hairy ones from end Aug to early Oct.

RatWife · 03/09/2019 21:40

By the away, I've never figured out whether they are on their way out or in, or are there all year round but only run around from Aug- Oct?

Even my DF never sees any outside of this time window.

Rachelover40 · 03/09/2019 22:06

You're certainly not unreasonable to request they vacate your premises and find somewhere else to visit. Unfortunately they may not understand your language and I doubt you speak Spider.

Buy a spider deterrent spray. I don't stay anywhere without one.

ScoobyCan · 03/09/2019 22:38

@RatWife - slugs? In the house? I've got gargantuan ones in the garden but I tend to just let them roam around - they don't scuttle like the spiders... and I think they go on holiday Nov-July, hence why they all come back "home" August-Oct....

@Rachelover40 - I must admit I'm not SpiderScooby but I would have thought Peter Parker might speak Spider??

@iklboo - awwww, I had a spider approved collection case all ready....

@Pimmsypimms - not only are they huge - the one in the duster yesterday was FURRY!

@ScoobyCan That's so cute!

MoaningMinnie1 · 04/09/2019 03:50

I've had a slug or two come into the house if I've left the kitchen door open, also brought one in on a milk bottle early in the morning. I didn't notice it and put it in the fridge! Thankfully it went nowhere else and when I found it, I put it outside.

After a heavy rain shower, a lot of snails were all around the door frame.
My husband wouldn't walk through until I removed them :-).

NeverMindTheBuzzards · 04/09/2019 04:09

A tarantula and a black widow? They're not exactly common house spiders in the UK!

I'll take any common UK house spiders in exchange for all the bloody slugs that infiltrate my house at night, though. They might also sort out the flies!

ScoobyCan · 04/09/2019 07:50

Ok ok @NeverMindTheBuzzards, admittedly I MIGHT have exaggerated slightly but I can tell you they looked like those spiders. And there are about eleventy billion in my house....
