Brexit is going to happen

The EU are going to charge the UK £1billion a month for an extension after 31st October, they have had enough. I can’t see any other option but we will have to leave. All the people that are able to leave the UK I would seriously think about doing it now, this doesn’t look good 😢

No 10 says bill to block no deal 'blueprint for legislative purgatory'

Downing Street has described the Benn bill as a “blueprint for legislative purgatory”. The PM’s spokesman said it would cost “vast amounts”, with roughly £1bn a month paid to the EU for an extension, and was “very clearly in Brussels’ interests not in the British interest”. He said:

The prime minister’s mood is determined. He wants to get on with delivering on the result of the referendum and the UK leaving the EU on 31 October, ideally with a deal.

We are opposed to the bill which is being brought forward because it is about crippling negotiations and chopping the legs out from under the UK position, and making any further negotiation impossible.

I’ve requested this be moved to the Brexit section. I’d want more proof than Boris saying it.

MustardScreams · 03/09/2019 13:22

That’s just BJ making numbers up out of thin air to force the rebel’s to vote with him.

random79 · 03/09/2019 13:23

At a best case, Brexit has cost us about 3x our net contribution to the EU thus far in government revenues. So it's a bit of a silly comment.

RedskyLastNight · 03/09/2019 13:24

Surely that's just the money that the UK normally pays the EU as part of its membership? Not some sort of additional penalty that the EU have imposed.

Talk about spin Hmm ...

WaterSheep · 03/09/2019 13:25

The PM’s spokesman said...

Ah well if the PM spokesman said it, then it must be true Wink

DorisDaysDadsDogsDead · 03/09/2019 13:25

"Proven liar" in "telling untruths" shocker

hopeishere · 03/09/2019 13:29

Agree with @RedskyLastNight surely that is just the ongoing payments we make as members?? Not an additional charge.

DontMakeMeShushYou · 03/09/2019 13:29

Surely a billion a month is what we pay as members of the EU. £13 billion per year. Remember the big red bus! Obviously if we seek an extension we'll still need to pay until we do actually leave. It's hardly news is it. It's just the PM trying to scaremonger

DontMakeMeShushYou · 03/09/2019 13:31

Sorry - cross posted with RedskyLastNight.

DoomsdayCult · 03/09/2019 13:42

We are already paying a billion £ a month. That is just BJ trying to confuse people.

I would be suprised if Brexit were not extended. BJ wanted to end freedom of movement from EU on 31 Oct but then had to U-turn when he found out that the Government doesn’t have its shit together to actually implement an end to freedom of movement from EU.

My thinking goes, if the Government doesn’t even have the border sorted to add EU to the 3rd Country process they already do, then guaranteed there are many many other processes and policies also not ready for actual Brexit in less than 60days.

Brexit is turning into a Monty Python comedy.

Woahriver · 03/09/2019 13:42

Where is everyone going to if Brexit happens?

DontMakeMeShushYou · 03/09/2019 13:50

BBC Reality Check article about this: <a class="break-all" href="https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-49563957?intlink_from_url=www.bbc.co.uk/news/reality_check&link_location=live-reporting-story" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-49563957?intlink_from_url=www.bbc.co.uk/news/reality_check&link_location=live-reporting-story

spongemumnudiepants · 03/09/2019 13:53

After all the brexit shit over the past 3 years , just hurry up and get on with it government. We are all tired of brexit.

bellinisurge · 03/09/2019 13:53

Put a customs border in the sea and we can leave.
Screw up GFA and you can fuck off.

lalag · 03/09/2019 14:09

@Woahriver that's what I want to know! @Gin96 tell me where the land of milk and honey is please?

granny24 · 03/09/2019 14:09

Thanks sponge mum . Can't wait to have my reciprocal health care finished.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 03/09/2019 14:11

Fuck Brexit.

MythicalBiologicalFennel · 03/09/2019 14:12

Why should we believe anything Johnson says? Every time he opens his mouth I feel the underlying message is "I think you are all stupid".

nrpmum · 03/09/2019 14:14

Brexit is a shit show, and has just shown the world how self-serving our politicians are.

FudgeBrownie2019 · 03/09/2019 14:15

The prime minister’s mood is determined. He wants to get on with delivering on the result of the referendum and the UK leaving the EU on 31 October, ideally with a deal.

The Gov't have had the best part of three years to forge a mutually beneficial deal and failed, some might say quite spectacularly. I have very little faith that a bloated self-important turdhat like Boris can achieve in under 8 weeks what hasn't been achieved in three years. That would be vastly overestimating the negotiating skills of the piss-scented fucknut.

berlinbabylon · 03/09/2019 14:25

Surely that's just the money that the UK normally pays the EU as part of its membership? Not some sort of additional penalty that the EU have imposed

This! We've already paid for the 7 month extension (or are in the process of, or will pay for it)

Put a customs border in the sea and we can leave.
Screw up GFA and you can fuck off

This. Does Boris actually need the ERG and DUP anyway? I think there are enough MPs who would vote for it.
