To ask what you wear to work?

Looking for some nice clothes to wear for work but I'm stuck on ideas. I had a baby 4 months ago and still haven't lost any weight Sad I'm a size 14/16.

I feel fat in literally everything I wear and my confidence is knocked. I work in an office within a financial services environment so need to look smart. I'm early 20s.

AIBU to ask what you wear for work and where do you shop for workwear?

Next do brilliant rousers. I’m size 18 and 5’9” I got brilliant trousers (with deep pockets). Dorothy Perkins, Asda George etc have excellent smart tops (I had to get a couple for interviews recently) I also got some nice dresses and trousers from Debenhams. They are out there!

I wear dresses from Lindy Bop. I love them and have a wardrobe full for work.

Mixture of dresses (loads of Phase Eight, some Oasis, Boden, Hobbs) also cigarette trousers (Next) and tops. I'm 42 but my work roommate is 26 and she and her contemporaries do the 7/8th trouser plus top thing a lot. We're lawyers so probably a similar dress code to you.

Firstly, it took you nine months to gain the weight, give yourself at least as long to lose it! You're only just getting to grips with motherhood, so be kind to yourself.

Financial services... is that a bank teller or are you in an office? Hard to advise when we don't know the environment.

If I were you I would buy a capsule wardrobe from Hobbs or wherever you used to buy work clothes from before in your new size so that you at least look and feel good. Pick out something you like about your new body and focus on that. E.g. if you now have a very curvy bum then a pencil skirt will look incredible on you! Don't underestimate the effect a well fitted ensemble has on you. Maybe buy a couple of dresses, a pair of trousers and a few blouses? Stay away from all black though, it doesn't do anyone any favours. If you're in FS and have a bit of cash to throw around it might be worth going to John Lewis or somesuch for the personal shopping service if you're not feeling up to dressing yourself at the moment.

The nice clothes will be easier to sell on once you lose weigh Wink

I’m a primary school teacher so I mostly wear jeans and a jumper or blouse, and trainers, converse etc or slip on loafers if I feel like “dressing up”. I buy clothes in a variety of shops really, but, a lot of my clothes are from Boden, mint velvet, next, warehouse, and oasis.
