To buy the Shark cordless upright...

Poochnewbie · 01/09/2019 18:37

Help please. I’m about to click buy on the Shark upright cordless Lift Away vacuum.
Should I do it. I’d get an extra battery.
I have a dog who’s shedding drives me up the wall and a toddler. My Dyson is just not cutting it. I go over and over the same spot on carpets trying to pick up one bit of sock fluff, it doesn’t pick up well from wooden floors or get pet hair from furnishings. Is this Shark what I need. It is currently on sale and I’m just about to buy it but thought I’d turn to MN wisdom and AIBU brutality for some quick thoughts before I purchase...or not. Help? Thanks Smile

I have the shark cordless and 2 dogs and it's brilliant

duebaby2 · 01/09/2019 18:47

Yes we've just swapped from a dyson to a shark pet lift away upright corded (we have no pets though just a messy toddler) and it's amazing the amount of muck it picks up

Curious2468 · 01/09/2019 18:51

You won’t regret it! Def get a second battery though! I still need to order one and it’s a pita when it runs out before you are finished.

It’s so light and quiet that I can manage it with my chronic pain and my very sound sensitive kids will stay in the room whilst I hoover.

Happygilmorelove · 01/09/2019 18:53

I've got one and it's fantastic, way better than my Dyson I used to have. Its powerful but light and quiet too..

2childrenandout · 01/09/2019 18:54

Shark cordless here. Best thing ever, especially with 2 small children. Getting the corded vacuum out with 2 very little ones was a pita. We have a 4 bed detached and I can do the whole house before it runs out of battery.

SpamChaudFroid · 01/09/2019 18:55

Shark are the royalty of vacuum cleaners! (Mine's not cordless though). I replaced a Miele with it for reference.

Sharptic · 01/09/2019 18:57

I love my cordless shark, had it a few years now.

I only have one battery and that's enough for us, it does a 3 bed semi fine in one go. The handheld is also perfect for cleaning out the car and reaching up for cobwebs 😃

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 01/09/2019 19:01

I'm going to go against the grain here but I hate mine. It only runs for a few minutes before it's either overheated or blocked and the battery life is shocking.

Daffodils07 · 01/09/2019 19:05

I have one, and I did have a problem with it over heating but they sorted it out no problem with no cost whatsoever to me.
Customer service is excellent, would definitely recommend.

Floralnomad · 01/09/2019 19:08

I have one upstairs and one down and find them excellent . I’ve had a couple of Dyson cordless which I don’t rate at all , although I love them as a handheld . I also have a Bosch Athlet which is a great vacuum but a faff to use the tools so he’s a bit redundant at present .

PookieDo · 01/09/2019 19:09

I find that no cordless will ever have (or maintain) as good suction as mains powered. I nearly bought a shark for pet hair but then got a vax pet for £70 and its bloody brilliant

ThePittts · 01/09/2019 19:10

I love my cordless Shark :)

catlady3 · 01/09/2019 19:11

I've got the cordless one for pets that can get under all sorts of furniture, it's brilliant. Definitely get the motorised attachment if you have pets and carpets, it's brilliant! Although you don't need it if you don't have carpets imo.

han01uk · 01/09/2019 19:11

Got the lift away...it's great, picks up so much better than the dyson, also have dogs, but the lift away function is really good for doing stairs, ceilings etc etc...

soloula · 01/09/2019 19:12

I was so excited to get the shark cordless but when it arrived I found it so heavy to hold. Returned it and ordered another gtech instead.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 01/09/2019 19:14

Get the corded liftaway. It's excellent.

Poochnewbie · 01/09/2019 19:14

Thanks everyone! I’m going to purchase 😊
It was either that or cling film the dog and put the toddler in a cage 🤣

I have a shark rose gold cord upright. On my first go of using I was amazed how much hair it picked up. I have a bulldog and have to hoover most days and it's great.
I went for the cord one as the length was huge, can do upstairs plugged in from downstairs and found it doesn't get in the way.
Before I ordered it I had a try of one at curry's and that made me want to order it.
The only thing with the upright one is that you do have to get the hair out of the stick part quite often as it can get blocked quickly. As long as you do that and clean the filter once a month it runs like a dream

Lougle · 01/09/2019 19:27

We have a corded Shark and love it.

YouFellAsleeep · 01/09/2019 19:30

I had that cordless shark. It was good. But I changed it for the corded version and it’s SO much better!

Lougle · 01/09/2019 19:39

The cord is super long on a Shark. I can plug it in in one room downstairs and Hoover upstairs with it.

acquiescence · 01/09/2019 19:51

I have a cordless shark, a pet hair one think, only had it around a month and I love it. We have a 4 bed semi and one battery does the house without an issue. I then just charge straight away and it’s ready for next time, charges in a few hours. I love that it’s so light.

Poochnewbie · 06/09/2019 12:26

I got it and it’s a total game changer. Love it!!
I didn’t want to go for corded as I just wanted to quickly be able to pick up and get to crumbs or use to just quickly get something I’ve spotted.
It’s making keeping on top of things SO much easier. I get very stressed about the dog hair and HATE it getting on my socks as I walk and having my toddler play on the floor had me on edge. My dyson never picked up enough. This is great. I’ve wLked through the Ouse with no hair on my socks 😊
