Someone stealing my rubbish!?

Just that really. Put several black bags at end of my drive late in evening for collection the following morning. Got up at about 2 to go to bathroom and have a look out my window and see 2 bags have disappeared. I go outside to check and only 1 black bag and all my recycle bags are there. I look about and dont see what could have happened. Who in their right mind takes peoples rubbish?

Fraudsters looking to carry out identity theft?

ShetlandWife · 30/08/2019 21:10

Binmen? Wink

Skone · 01/09/2019 13:36

No not binmen. Was taken middle of night. This started a few months ago black bags being ripped open so I started keeping them on my walkway, on my property.

Do you have really interesting rubbish?!

Zaphodsotherhead · 01/09/2019 14:05

Do the black bags have meat/food remnants in?

Foxes?

Skyecat · 01/09/2019 14:06

Are you famous?

Passthecherrycoke · 01/09/2019 14:06

Foxes or cats could’ve dragged it a bit or someone has taken a few to look for identities and will dump somewhere else?

INeedToThrowItAllOut · 01/09/2019 14:19

As previous poster said, most likely is identity fraudsters - they go through rubbish looking for name/address/postcode, date of birth + any other details that reveal your info - letters from banks, mortgage company, loans.

Always shred this stuff or use an ID protection roller or camouflage stamp over your personal data.

It's a well known scam.

We had an overly "helpful" neighbour who used to go around combining people's rubbish early on the morning of bin day. So, if someone had a half empty wheelie bin, he would combine it with another half empty one and wheel the full one the curb for the bin men.

I found it utterly bizarre and a bit intrusive. Hmm Not to mention to the fact you don't know what is potentially in someone else's rubbish e.g. something dangerous or illegal.

We never said anything as we usually spotted him when we were getting ready for work. However he has since stopped doing it. I wonder if someone shouted at him thinking he was stealing documents!

I would keep a close eye out OP. Sounds most likely to be foxes, but you could have a weird neighbour. Confused

No the bags are not light enough to be dragged by foxes, someone had definitely taken them. Today I got a letter from the council for flytipping. Apparently my rubbish ended up the road and strewn across the pavement. I was stupid enough to not remove my address on something they found. What do I do?
