To feel anxious about DD going back to school

Just worried how things are going to pan our friendship-wise for her in Y6. This is the first year I have felt this way as up until now she had a secure BFF.

The school mixes up form groups each year, which I support, so that's a change in itself.

I won't project my anxiety on to her, but is anyone feeling the same?

I always feel a bit nervous about the dses going back to school and they are going in to years 11 and 12 now!

For me, it's because they are always a bit apprehensive and reluctant to give up the holiday lie ins and laziness.

Boys friendships generally seem so much more straightforward than girla though, I've never had worries about friends with either boy, they just muddle along. Does make it so much easier.

I have a DD going into Y6 too and feel similar. I encourage her to mix in lots of different groups at school, to take on responsibilities at lunches and breaks and to choose activities she wants to do rather than follow what her friends are doing. She's had difficulties in the past with the whole BFF thing and becoming reliant on one friend then it's gone pear shaped one way or another. Since taking a different approach, we've both been less anxious.
I'm looking forward to her being in the bigger environment of high school - don't feel she's quite found her tribe yet.

DD is going into year 7. She has ASD. I've been having sleepless nights for weeks so no judgement here!
