To be annoyed at noise before 8pm?

Okay I know I'm being unreasonable really. My neighbour has been playing thumping music for hours now, the really loud bass type dance stuff.
I just do not know how anyone is supposed to relax with this noise going on Hmm
It's really irritating. Please give me tips on how to relax and ignore it!

Could you pop round and ask her to turn it down a bit?

jennyhelmans · 30/08/2019 19:57

@Sparklesocks can I really do that at 8pm on a Friday night or will I look insane? Blush

You could just say it’s a little bit loud, is it ok if you turn it down? I think that’s reasonable - you’re not asking to turn it off completely

It’s unreasonable to make noise so loud that it’s disturbing your right to enjoy your home. Doesn’t matter what time of day it is. Thumping bass for hours on end which you can’t escape from must be hell. I would pop round and let them know how loud it is in your home

I once had a neighbour stab another neighbour to death over his incessant playing of Ace of Bass (I Saw The Sign) over, and over, and over.

TBH, if the jury had been made up of his neighbours, he would have successfully claimed the defence of provocation.

You can ask, some people don’t realise how loud they’re being/have the speakers against the wall.

You could also stick some “noise” on in your own house, cause obviously if your sitting in silence reading a book it’ll feel louder than if you’ve got the telly/washing machine/dishwasher/dryer running. Of course that only works if your house doesn’t feel like it’s in the rave next door.

jennyhelmans · 30/08/2019 20:29

I've been and knocked but, surprise surprise, no answer!
I will stick a film on and try and ignore it I think but god it's difficult!

YANBU would really piss me off!

Why not pop a note through the door “I’m sure you don’t realise but I can hear your music quite loudly through my wall. I’d really appreciate it if you could turn it down and/or move the speaker area away from the adjoining wall. Thanks and have a good weekend!”

We had this once from around 8pm at night through until around 9am and then start up at 12pm through the afternoon... after confronting the son (his parents were away so he was having a party) he promised they would be quiet again the second night (I was 17 weeks pregnant at the time) but again we had thumping music through til 3am until my partner went round and told them to grow up! Thumping bass music is horrible I do not understand how they can sit and listen to it Angry
