I've had a bad cold over the last week. However, over the last three days I have completely lost my appetite. I am having to force myself to eat and I actually feel nauseous just thinking about it.

Is this part of a normal cold? I don't want to waste their time.

You can survive without food for a lot longer than 3 days!!! Loss of appetite is one symptom of colds. Not worth taking up a doctors appointment in my opinion.

dollydaydream114 · 30/08/2019 12:32

Sounds like a normal cold to me.

QueenOfPain · 30/08/2019 12:33

No need to take up a GP appt, I don’t think. Just force yourself to eat, you’re an adult so mind over matter and you’ll be fine.

Wingedharpy · 30/08/2019 12:37

Don't worry about the eating.
Just keep drinking plenty - non-alcoholic.
No need for Doc.
Get well soon.
PS. Sniff tea tree oil dropped on a tissue. It won't cure the cold but they usually clear up quicker in my experience.

Thanks all. I've never had this symptom before so I was unsure.
I'll wait it out!

Listen to your body. Don't force yourself to eat

JaneJeffer · 30/08/2019 12:58

Have some clear soup if you can.

GammaStingRay · 30/08/2019 13:10

Lol! Poor appetite is normal with a cold. Glad you asked here instead of attending the GP! Try eat a bit of what you usually fancy but don’t worry if you don’t, a few days without food won’t remotely hurt. Though you should try drink lots of fluids/orange juice, stay hydrated.

QuestionableMouse · 30/08/2019 13:15

Going against the grain here but might be worth seeing the nurse because it's an unusual symptom for you. Could be a chest infection or something which might not clear up without help.
