To wonder if I've made the right dummy decision?

Anyone tried to take their little ones dummy away? If so how long did it take before they were ok going to bed? We've just done the 'dummy fairy' with our DD (2 1/2). Currently on night two of screaming the place down. She only ever had it for sleep but is finding it really hard! As am I! Tempted to give it back but the dentist said was effecting her teeth so want to be strong. Any advice gratefully received!

It’s usually about 3 nights to break a habit like that. Stick at it, you’re doing exactly the right thing.

We had to do three nights of screaming hysterics to break the habit with no.2 - he was fine after that. Good luck!

I cut the test of ds’s Dummy so they lost their suck. He was not impressed and then I loved them in the bin a few days later. Just told him he’s a big boy now and distract distract distract. He needed a few extra stories and cuddles for a few nights.

Ok thanks so much for replies. Three nights sounds like maybe magic number then, must stay strong! Especially as spent £30 in bloody Smyths on bribery toy HmmGrin

How you getting on op??

Sunshineface123 · 09/09/2019 22:05

Thought I'd update quickly for anyone interested- took a good week for no crying at bedtime and an additional few days to stop asking for it but I'd say after a full two weeks her sleep is right back on track! Thanks for the support to those who said don't give in!!
