To want to leave a bad review?

Bit of a long story so I'll try shorten it..

A hairdresser messed up my hair, resulting in a really short bob-cut that has knocked my confidence. I know it's 'only hair' but I struggle to like my image as it is. Called a different local salon with amazing reviews at the end of last month to book in for hair extensions, ready for my birthday celebrations this coming weekend. They said they only had one appointment available for the entire month, 1PM today, so I claimed it.
I went to the salon last week for a colour match, paid a deposit of £50 and was quoted £360 overall. I've saved up some money week by week for this, so was happy with that because of their incredible reviews.

Now, bearing in mind that I had to book the day off work for this appointment, I woke up this morning to a message that they have to cancel because the hairdresser's son has been sick. That's fine, I understand that kids come first. They offered to fit me in on Saturday, which I can't do as we're already away for my birthday.

I know another hairdresser who said that if I can buy the extensions from the salon, she will fit them for me today. So, I messaged the woman and asked if I could do as such, and was ignored. So, I called the salon and they said I'd have to ask the woman who cancelled on me. I messaged her again and she reluctantly said yes, but the hair hasn't been delivered yet.. I've never heard of any hairdressers having hair delivered on the exact day of fitting, but apparently that's how they work there. Fine.

Was told that hair would be delivered by 1PM, so went to the salon and the girls there had no idea what I was on about. They called the woman who cancelled on me, then came out and told me it'll be delivered around 3.30PM. I said that's not what I was told, and she blamed it on the bank holiday and tried guilt-tripping me about how the woman's son is sick and she's doing all she can to still help me (as if I was the cause of the problem..).

Then, five minutes later she told me it'll probably be around 5.30PM. I said I've booked to have them fitted this afternoon by someone else, so didn't know what else I could do. Cancelled appointment with other hairdresser.

I asked if I could just have my deposit back, because this has stressed me out to a point that I just felt sick. Something was telling me that they just haven't ordered them and were fobbing me off. The woman at the salon had attitude and said 'she's offered to come in to do them for you tonight and you've said no. She's done all she can to help you..'- at no point was an appointment tonight offered. She said the woman is now driving to Birmingham to pick up my extensions, to which I said with no disrespect, that's a bit stupid. If she can't come into work, how can she drive 6 hours to and from Birmingham to pick the hair up? I asked if it's even been ordered, and she looked at me as though I'd just offended her great ancestors.

She said if I wanted my deposit back, I'd have to wait for it to go in the bank- but I paid in cash. She then gave me money from the till and said 'I guess * will pay me back when she's in next'.

So, AIBU to leave a bad review, as I didn't actually get my hair done? My one day off work is now ruined, there's no time for another salon to do my hair, confidence is as low as ever for my birthdsh and my mood is ruined after being made out to be a problem, when in fact I had a viable solution at first.

She forgot to order your hair and tried to cover.

That deserves a bad review. You've took a day off work, as many would do.

Hair is important, people book the day before Weddings and holidays etc. They should be made aware that this can happen.

Stringlights · 27/08/2019 15:10

@Ponoka7 that's what I thought. I just feel like they have an untarnished reputation and I have this feeling they'll make out that I've been an issue if I leave a review.

There was excuse after excuse, and guilt-tripping me as if I'd done something wrong.

I can understand you being disappointed about not being able to get your hair done today, but it's the lies, isn't it? Because that's what it comes down to: someone is lying. Did the woman with the sick child forget to order them? It sounds as though she's told the owner she's offered to do them for you tonight, which she hasn't … so there's one lie right there. Sounds like she's trying to cover herself with the owner. There's no way she's driving 6 hours to pick them up, what rubbish! Is her DC really sick, or is she staying off because she forgot to order the extensions? And they must be real devil-may-care stylists if they order hair to arrive the same time as the client they are fitting it to!! Utterly ridiculous, and completely unbelievable. Not only have you been lied to (repeatedly), you've been given attitude by the owner, too. Yes, review away.

Finfintytint · 27/08/2019 15:15

I’d certainly leave a review and keep it short and factual.

littlemisssugarpuffs · 27/08/2019 15:18

I would wait for them to give you back your deposit before leaving a review,

I'm sorry you are feeling low have you considered some clip in hair extensions?

I hope u have a nice birthday x

Stringlights · 27/08/2019 15:20

@littlemisssugarpuffs I have the deposit back now, after much reluctance from the woman.
I've also tried clip in extensions but due to the blunt cut of the bob, having them fitted would allow for the hairdresser to cut my hair and blend it all in😣

littlemisssugarpuffs · 27/08/2019 15:20

Sorry OP read your post again, You should leave your review

They have messed you around and if you leave a review it can prevent them messing around other customers x

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 27/08/2019 15:21

Yep. I’d leave a factual review. I think they’ve behaved really badly for a professional business. They should’ve just been upfront and said they had messed up the order.

IAmALazyArse · 27/08/2019 15:24

Well their great reviews may be because other people accepted lies in similar situations...

SarahTancredi · 27/08/2019 15:32

Leave the review. They are clearly lying.

As you say if her son's sick theres no way he would be up to a 6 hour car journey .

And how would they be there by 3.30 or 5.30 if she has to go to Birmingham to get them Hmm

They would be out for delivery surely ?

Stringlights · 27/08/2019 15:37

@SarahTancredi first of all, LOVE the name.

That's the thing, she said they're out for delivery by DPD and she's tracking them. If this was me, and it was true, I'd at least send a screenshot of the tracking as evidence!
Also, when I've had things 'out for delivery' it's always been when they've been given to local courier. Yet, she said they're in Birmingham.

Lies upon lies upon lies.

proseccoaficionado · 27/08/2019 15:43

Definitely leave a review but don't go into a sob story, keep it simple and tell the facts. So freaking rude.

crazycatgal · 27/08/2019 15:48

Leave a review, it's all a load of bullshit.

If the extensions were still out for delivery late afternoon/evening then how would she have been able to fit them at 1pm as she was supposed to before she cancelled on you?

Stringlights · 27/08/2019 16:03

@crazycatgal That I can't answer, I'm afraid. Nothing made sense, including why I was being made out to be a problem.

OP posts:
Rivkka · 27/08/2019 16:04

I would, the lying fuckers

CookPassBabtridge · 27/08/2019 16:13

I would! We the customers need to see honest reviews. Are there really no bad reviews?

SarahTancredi · 27/08/2019 16:16

Couriers deliver til about 9pm. Thats usually the time the give.

From 7am to 9pm or there abouts.

How would they fulfil their hundreds of deliveries if they waited in Birmingham for several hours while the customer came to the courier as opposed to courier to customer Hmm

IAmALazyArse · 27/08/2019 16:22

Lol DPD wouldn't give her the package outside their allocated time slot even if that whole thing wasn't a lie... I once had a lovely 10 min chat with my delivery driver because he was way too early and it wouldn't let him scan it

SconeofDestiny · 27/08/2019 16:50

I think YAB a bit U by making assumptions and then posting a bad review simply based on assumptions.
Firstly, it's obvious that she rents a chair in the salon (chances are all the other stylists are separate businesses within the salon too.)
The suppliers had probably posted them out but the delivery company hadn't got around to delivering them yet. It happens a lot around where I live. Courier companies are a nightmare and very unreliable.
I ordered something to be delivered by DPD. It was due to be delivered last Monday and they finally delivered it 1 week later at 8pm, having updated their tracking every day saying they were going to deliver that day. I wasted 4 days staying at home for nothing.

SarahTancredi · 27/08/2019 16:57

Then surely you would a) switch suppliers/couriers

B) be honest.

Most people would be understanding. Lying like that would cause no end of problems.

Clangus00 · 27/08/2019 17:06

Oh I would!

C0untDucku1a · 27/08/2019 17:11

Yea leave a factual review with no padding.
