To think no jeans fit me!!

Few stats: I'm 31, 9 stone, 5'5 with a pot belly and clapping thighs. I'm probably a 10/12 but I rarely buy clothes so who knows.

But today I tried six pairs in different styles and they all look awful! Skinny/super skinny / high rise / low rise. What?!

Where does everyone go for an everyday pair?

Primark kids department. Age 13-14 fits me nicely. perfect length for me as well , at 5'4" . I'm size 10 so the age 14-15 should come up size 12.

Tesco do a range of skinny jeans with tummy control and they're the next jeans I've ever owned, completely converted me away from my old faithful Next pair. I think they're £22 and come in a few different colours.

purplepingu · 26/08/2019 16:42

*best jeans not next jeans!

mummyof2boys30 · 26/08/2019 16:43

Il second the Tesco ones. I love them and very comfy

greenlynx · 26/08/2019 16:56

I’m about the same shape and size. I buy mine fromM&S, Next or Gap. Gap had really nice one with stretch recently.
I usually try about 20 pairs before buying even knowing what suits
me. The same style jeans from different places look very different.

42andcounting · 27/08/2019 23:24

M&S straight leg high rise. Comfy, flattering, and reasonably priced. Don't make you look like a parsnip. Win Grin

Summersunshine2 · 27/08/2019 23:27

Next control ones

EyeDrops · 27/08/2019 23:29

I'm about the same size and shape, and have the same difficulty. I actually got a fantastic pair from Matalan!

DotCottan · 27/08/2019 23:37

I feel your pain. I’m pear shaped with a small waist and big hips and thunder thighs. Weirdly enough size 8-10 dresses fit me and make me look proportioned and much slimmer but I cannot get into a size ten pair of trousers to save my life, 12 and 14 are fine, but I can squeeze into a size ten jeggings. And shirt sizes are a mystery, size 8/10 are fine but I cannot button the last two buttons so I just tuck it in my skirt Blush And if I go for a bigger sized shirt, the shoulders look weird on my tiny shoulders. Once I find something that fits me well, I just get a few more online in different colours Blush

Matalan here as well

Best ones I've found on the high street are M&S 'Relaxed Slim' which are mid-rise and worn with a single turn up to ankle-grazer length. I fucking love them and have them in three colours and they are the only jeans that really seem to suit me and look good with any shoe from flip-flops to ankle boots. I also find I can get away with a size smaller than I tend to wear in other styles. I'm bigger than you, OP, but for reference, I have a fat stomach and thunder-thighs, although my waist is slightly smaller than you'd expect for a porker.

I wear skinny jeans in winter with long tops/jumpers over them but don't like to wear them with anything that doesn't cover me to mid-thigh so they don't really work for me in summer. Straight-leg styles make my legs look like tree-trunks for some reason although I often think they look nice on other people.

I do feel like I'm being trolled whenever I see 'Relaxed Slim' written inside the waistband though as frankly it's pretty obvious to everyone that I am neither.

StinkyWizleteets · 28/08/2019 00:00

The eternal question.
I get on quite well with Next Slim fit which have a mid rise. Granted they’re closer to skinny on my thighs but they’re comfy. I have recently started to need to pull them up when I move or sit down. Never quite worked out of that means they’re too big or too small.

I’ve only ever once found a pair of denims that fitted me perfectly at the waist and hips and they were actually men’s diesel denims costing more than my now weekly income.

Next do a range for curvy women. Im 5 foot and just had a baby do i also have a podgy belly. Next jeans made for curves fit very well

sparkla · 28/08/2019 07:13

I read an article on M&S Lily straight jeans being the best fit for everyone and selling out when launched and fell for the hype and bought some.

My goodness, they were right, I love them and now have three pairs. My mum age 83 bought some, she loves them too.

Best of all, £19.50 a pair.

TheWernethWife · 28/08/2019 07:18

I live in M&S relaxed slim jeans, have 5 spare pairs on top of the wardrobe in case they are discontinued. At £25 a pair they are a bloody bargain.
