To ask you all to plan a holiday for me?

We really want to go on a long road trip with the three DCs next summer holidays. My mum might also want to come. We were thinking of going to the US and doing a section of the country in an RV (possibly NW). My kids are at the ‘kill each other within 5 mins of a car journey’ stage at the moment (youngest two particularly) so DH wants to test out a road trip around mainland Europe first - he did a lot of this as a child. The kids have been to Spain, Italy and France several times already but we would like to drive through the Alps during our trip (as they’re awesome). DH and I both lived in Germany as children so I’d love to take them to where I lived (plus we all love German food) and I’d like to pop in to visit an old friend who lives in Switzerland. Apart from that, we’re fairly easy on location!
Anyone want to hurl some must see countries/towns/sights my way? I quite fancy Croatia as a ‘new to me’ country. DH has been to most of Europe over the years with work.

Even better, has anyone already done a super duper amazing European road trip that they wouldn’t mind posting the itinerary of? Grin

Anyone? I really struggle with putting itineraries or plans together due to ADHD and it’s frying my brain to try and come up with something Sad

Try the Tripadvisor forums, they can give you suggestions. Google road trip across Europe / Germany & Swiss Alps with kids. You should find plenty of blogs or other travel forum posts that will give you some good ideas to build on.

I find gathering all the links and suggestions in a spreadsheet helpful. You can put dates in a column and play around with an itinerary that way.

Once you have a basic idea post each section in the relevant country forum on Tripadvisor and get people to review your itinerary.
