Just that - I love my children, I would run into a burning building for them and they are my world - I just don't like them very much sometimes - today has been one of those days!! They are 6 and 8 boys.... the six year old is at the wonderful stage of winging about everything, nothing is ever his fault and the world is so unfair - he is soooo stubborn... the 8 year old answers back to EVERYTHING and has decided he obviously knows all there is about the world!!! Today they have driven me crazy, and I mean absolutely crazy!!! I feel like the t-rex from Jurassic World and quite prepared to rip someones head off - The whole day has been squabbles and arguments and general disobedience! And they are so physical, they are like bear cubs you can't pull apart and there is no way of telling if it is play fighting or trying to kill each other!!
Now I should say 80% of the time they are lovely kids - the 6yr olds stubbornness translates into absolute passion about wildlife and nature, and his whingeing instead becomes constant questioning and curiosity! The physicality becomes a wonderful bond between them where they will cuddle and help each other and they will sneak into each others bed if one feels scared in the night.... The 8 year olds know it all attitude instead becomes wonderfully thoughtful and intelligent conversation, interest and care for others - but today, today they have been complete and total and utter brats and I have needed a pillow more than once to scream into!!! I've put them to bed early and I now have gin!!!

You’re not being unreasonable AT ALL!!

In fact, when I turned into a grotty horrible teenager my mother said to me ‘you’re my daughter, I have to love you, but I really don’t like you at the moment’

Now I have 2 teenagers myself and I totally understand what she meant!!!
And yes, I felt like this when they were younger some days too!
I found that if I had planned something exciting with them that I was looking forward too, the turds sound find a way to ruin it 😂

RainOrSun · 19/08/2019 20:24

Yip.
I've told mine I will always love him, but I dont always like him.

fourfuckssake4 · 19/08/2019 20:27

Totally normal, just wait til they are teenagers Grin

RobinsEggBlue · 19/08/2019 20:27

Must be something in the water as mine have driven me mad today, I put them both to bed early as I’d had enough! When will the whinging end??

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 19/08/2019 20:28

DS isn’t too bad - I wish he would keep his tongue between his teeth sometimes but I wouldn’t send him back or sell him on eBay.

LightDrizzle · 19/08/2019 20:33

My lovely DD1 went through a slightly unpalatable stage aged eight. It was like a mini adolescence, and she went a bit sly, sarcy and superior. She was sneery about peers, - all standard stuff.
I noticed DSD did the same thing, - although DH was oblivious.
Both grew out of it and weren’t unspeakably awful at their worst.

Pipanchew2 · 19/08/2019 20:34

YANBU
DD1 has been whinging all day about ridiculous stuff including me not wanting to touch her bogey, there being too many children in the park (not true), it raining, it being too sunny, me not being able to conjure up a rainbow... and the baby is teething. I would gladly sell them on eBay but doubt there’d be any takers.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 19/08/2019 20:37

Mine have their moments.
They are five and eight. I really do empathise about the constant whining and complaining. "But why do I have to?" is probably the thing he says the most.
My eight year old is Minecraft obsessed. That I can live with, I quite enjoy the game myself, but he also likes watching Minecraft gamers on YouTube. DanTDM is his favourite and it drives me nutty. I've taken to calling him Dan Tedium just to annoy ds1.
One minute they're complaining about eachother, the next they're cuddling up together.
Over the summer holidays I've had days where I've been tempted just to walk out of the house and not look back. Then, they're cuddling me and being adorable and ds1 is making me heart shaped sculptures on Minecraft.
Sigh. They're just so bloody adorable.

Yes I have 2 boys and and they are the same, they never stop. I'm so glad our schools are back . I work from home as a childminder and I actually thought I might lose my mind during those 7 weeks.

moleeye · 19/08/2019 20:40

My 5 year old DD has driven me round the twist today. So much so I was tempted to give to her away at one point 😂

Her 5 month brother on the other hand has been a delight and that's even through the teething.

I too have gin!

Drogosnextwife · 19/08/2019 20:41

I'm really considering boarding school for the oldest. If only we were rich 😭

SureTry · 19/08/2019 20:45

I've decided that if I ever win the lottery, DS13 will be going to boarding school. I'll pass on the big house, nice cars and luxury holidays if it meant getting my sanity back 😩
