To be honest about mat leave in a job interview

I am currently 3 months into my mat leave. On a whim I applied for some jobs on LinkedIn, all more senior than my current one.
A top law firm contacted me for a phone interview (I’m not a lawyer, more an expert in a support function).

AIBU to think I should be honest about my mat leave? I think having to obscure the fact will backfire when they ask about current projects etc

Any advice welcome

Why wouldn't you tell them? You might have to change your mat leave plans if you get the job though, depending if they need a quick start. Most people have a 3 month notice period and it's not unusual to go back to work after 6/7 months may leave so I don't see how our names a difference.

Thank you, my concern is that as soon as they hear ‘maternity’ I’ll be scrapped off.

I guess if they don’t want to employ mothers it wouldn’t be a good fit anyway 🤷‍♀️
