Noisy Neighbours - disco fever

Hi all
I know this isn’t probabaly unusual but we are having a bit of a problem with our neighbours and not really sure how I tackle. I should start off with the fact that even though we’ve lived here 5 years we don’t know our neighbours except to wave to. My view is you should be polite and let each get on with their lives. My neighbours are distant and sometimes literally turns her back when I wave so not sure what the problem is, but makes me feel really uncomfortable. Our problem now is they have set up an outdoor entertainment space at the side of their property. It’s in the open gap between the utility room and the garage and is about 2.5msquared. It’s got a bar, disco lights and speaker system. The big issue is that’s its literally a cars width away from our main living space and master bedroom. At weekends they play music which can start at any time but usually at 11.00pm through to about 2.30am. It’s just like going in holiday and finding your apartment is above a bar. Ok it’s not quite as loud as full on Ayia Napa disco, but the bass thuds and the laughter and chatter is really annoying. It’s not every night and mainly at weekends during the nice weather. I’m finding myself praying for rain In August just so I can get a good nights sleep. But now they’ve put up a huge umbrella so every night can be a party night. I’ve tried ear plugs but it’s the thud which I can feel no matter what I do. We cant have any windows open because if we do it’s really loud. Plus the flashing lights shine through the window (not the biggest problem as I can get blackouts) I don’t want to be a moaner and not a confrontational person but surely they know what they are doing. I hasten to add these are middle aged professional people, in a nice house (not that makes any real difference) I’m not saying don’t use the space but shut down the lights and music at a reasonable hour or move to the back of the house - they have plenty of space. I know the answer is probabaly to go round, but to be honest I’m dreading it..... should I just bite the bullet and put up with a disco bar on my front doorstep? Knowing that Winter is coming (yes I’m a GOT superfan) Am I being unreasonable?

I'd call the police. Don't say who you are, say you're over the road or at the back of them or something.

Speak to your local environmental health department, they deal with noise and light pollultion.

Particularly good to see that lights can be a nuisance too - noise and lights - double whammy. Just writing it down was cathartic. Spoke to my sister and she has offered to go round and punch them in the face for me and said she would have been round there the first night in her jim jams banging on their door 🤣 I won’t be taking her up on that offer......but I will be brave and go speak to them. If they continue, I will then see what formal action I can take. Wish me luck.
