To eat an out of date kiev?

I have two chicken kievs that have a use by date of 15th August.

Would it be silly of me to cook and eat them today, two days too late? I hate waste but I really don't want to make me and DH ill.

Have had a sniff and nothing smells nasty about them, they have been in the fridge since Wednesday.

WWYD?

Chicken? No chance.
You can’t smell everything that could make you ill.

Medievalist · 17/08/2019 15:39

No way.

DramaAlpaca · 17/08/2019 15:41

I would (and have) if it passed the sniff test. Two days over would be my max.

Babyg1995 · 17/08/2019 15:41

No way not even 1 day out of date. I ate chicken 1 day out of date didnt know was a relative that thought it would be ok oh my we were really really unwell. I'll never forgot it

FindaPenny · 17/08/2019 15:41

If they had been frozen I would maybe consider... But from the fridge... No way

myhandsareverycold · 17/08/2019 15:42

Absolutely NOT!

AngrySquid · 17/08/2019 15:43

Chicken is risky and in particular Kiev is a difficult one as the smell of the herbs could hide any slight tinge of colour or smell. I really wouldn’t risk it, sorry op

MountPheasant · 17/08/2019 15:43

I totally would and have. Ate a Sainsbury’s be good to yourself chicken Kiev 3 days over and it was fine!

CedarTreeLeaf · 17/08/2019 15:45

Nope not chicken.

NoHummus · 17/08/2019 15:46

I'd eat them. I'm convinced there's a bit of wiggle room on use by dates anyway.

Headinabook55 · 17/08/2019 15:46

Much as it makes me sad to think chicken's life has been wasted because I stupidly didn't remember the use by date, I think I am going to err on the side of caution.

Ive already had one vomiting bug this summer and am away next week...can't make myself ill with a dodgy kiev.

Thanks for the sage advice.
