To ask if anyone has been through this before? Growth scan -pregnancy

Had an early scan when I should have been 7 weeks. It showed a gestation sac and yolk sac but no fetal pole. She said it looked about right for 5 weeks.

I was convinced there was going to be a problem (history of miscarriages around 5 weeks) and just accepted that at my next scan, they would tell me there had been no development and baby had stopped growing at 5 weeks like all the other times I've miscarried (this is the first to not happen naturally though).

However, I went yesterday and they can now see a fetal pole. It only measured 2mm though.

I'm so confused now, I don't know what is going on and they can't tell me anything until another scan in a week.

I was so convinced of my dates I didn't know how the first scan could possibly have been 5 weeks and be a viable pregnancy so assumed it wasn't. I've also had a look online and considering they thought I was 5 weeks two weeks ago, 2mm for a fetal pole is extremely small.

Has anyone had anything similar? I'm a bit of a mess, I'd got my head around accepting it was lost and now I don't know what to think.

Didn't want to read and run. We had similar to this before we finally got our son (multiple mcs etc). We went back for scans over 4 weeks with the pole growing but very slowly (heartbeat also detected I think on the third scan?). Sadly at our last scan the heartbeat had stopped completely. I wish I could give you a more positive story but I also remember searching the internet for someone who had slow growth and not finding much. I guess my bit of hope for you would be that no one really knows with these things so try not to focus too much on other people's experiences (I know how impossible it is to not worry and to stop internet searching). We also did finally go on to have a healthy pregnancy so I hope whatever happens you get there 😊

It's a really scary time, it can go either way but there is hope. My pregnancy after a mmc I had a scan at what I was sure was 7 weeks and there was a sac but no fetal pole. I was devastated and had to wait 2 weeks for a rescan which felt like the longest 2 weeks of my life. At the scan there was a heartbeat and a baby measuring 8+5, she is now a chunky 11 month old and I feel so lucky everytime I look at her! I really hope you get good news Flowers
