Dog poop in wheelie bin

AIBU to be annoyed that every time I put my bin out for collection someone always puts a bag of dog poo in there after it has been emptied? I wouldn't mind them putting it in just before the rubbish is collected. It just feels like an absolute dick move to do this to someone. If we don't dig it out we have to have a stinking bin until the next collection. There's a public bin and a red dog poo only bin just don't the road so there's no excuse.

We have a dog and don't put it's poop in our own bin because of the smell so why do people feel it's ok to do it to us. This has happened long before we even got our dog. I have no idea what we could have done to upset our neighbours! Obviously one of them doesn't like us.

AIBU to set up a camera to catch the poop culprit?

I live on a dog walking route, and get the shit in the bin (usually the recycling bin) and it drives me mad.
People are just lazy (and stupid), don't take it personally.
You might not be able to spot the culprit clearly enough, and would you actually be brave enough to confront them?
If only you could booby-trap the bin somehow so it covered them with paint, or something.... Grin

makingmammaries · 16/08/2019 21:16

Can you stick a NO DOG POOP TODAY THANKS label on the bin?

mummytoafurbaby · 16/08/2019 21:27

I won't be brave enough to confront them but DH would be!
I had thought of putting anti burglar paint on the bin but knowing my luck I would get sued. I might try and think of other booby-traps...
We did put a sign on there but it made no difference ☹️

You could just rub margarine on the lid no-one expects a bin to be clean they couldn't sue you for that.

Myyearmytime · 16/08/2019 23:32

Ask you council for dog poo near your house . There obviously needs to be one there .

Grumpyunleashed · 16/08/2019 23:37

Or as previous posters with the same issue have been advised you could simply but a bin lock on it / them.

Available from handy online retailers for a few quid.

Goingonagondola · 16/08/2019 23:46

We get dog poo put in our bin on a regular basis. It does bother me.

Bluetrews25 · 17/08/2019 20:34

The bin lock won't stop people dumping stuff after the bin has been emptied but before you are home to take it in, as the lock will have to be removed for the bin men to empty.
I'm at work when they collect and don't get home for hours afterwards.
Bins are well hidden apart from then.

PuffHuffle5 · 17/08/2019 20:39

People throw poo bags into the bushes next to our house - becomes very obvious in winter when the leaves fall off. I wish they would just use our wheelie bin tbh.

pickingdaisies · 17/08/2019 20:40

This happened to us once or twice but it stopped thank goodness. No you would not be unreasonable to try and catch the sods. Bloody awful antisocial thing to do. (The poop dumpers, not you OP!)

WaitingInTheBushesOfLove · 17/08/2019 20:56

Can you really do that? There aren't any public bins around my neighborhood and the footpath i walk the dog. It's always a pain carrying the bag around until i return back.
Seeing others people's bins next to the pavement is very tempting but i could never dare.
OP, someone who lives on the same road as ours has put a sign on their bins that says no dog poos etc etc and that there is cctv. Maybe add that bit to your sign even if it's a bit of ..ahem..lie? (I am assuming, of course, that there is no crime if you do that). I definitely give that house a wide berth even though i have no intention of using their bins!

DontCallMeShitley · 17/08/2019 20:58

@Bluetrews25

You can get a gravity bin lock which opens when the bin is put on the truck to be emptied.

The annoying part would be remembering to take the key with you to put your rubbish out, and then not lose it in the bin.

wishfull888 · 17/08/2019 22:09

I watched our perfectly friendly neighbour do this the other week as he walked past. Annoyed doesn't cover it. Might send our cat onto their decking 🤔

Bluetrews25 · 18/08/2019 08:34

Oooh thanks, DontCallMeShitley, I'll investigate.
