Offered interview but even better job has been advertised

WIBU to apply for the other job in a company where I have already been offered an interview? The next one is more in keeping with my managerial experience and of course a better salary. The deadline for the 2nd job is before my interview. I don't want to give the impression of being a scattergun applicant. I am torn. It's a great company. I know I have the right to apply, but do any enployers / managers among you have negative feelings towards this type of applicant? Thanks.

I’d say go for it. You could call them before and explain that you are really, really keen to work for them. Really stress how much you want this State that you are interested in both positions. Ask them to take it as a sign of your eagerness to work for them. Set out what interests you about each post and that you would like to ensure you explore all options.

You might not get the other job you are interviewing for so it is good to have a back up.

Applying for 2 jobs at the same company just shows you like that organisation and are keen to work for them - if they question it, which is unlikely, just spin it into a positive.
