To be annoyed at this charity fundraiser??

There are lots of street fundraisers in my local town centre and while they are annoying I usually just say a quick 'no thank you' and that's enough but the one today really annoyed me .
As he came to approach me I said no thank you but he must not have heard me and I heard him shout 'are you deaf or summat?!' In quite an aggressive tone.
This shocked me because he was collecting for the national deaf children's society!
I turned around and this was the conversation
Me: are you talking to me?
Him: yes (big smile and a wink)
Me: do you not think that question is inappropriate as you represent a deaf charity?
Him: got your attention though didn't I, are you interested in helping deaf children?
Me: maybe I was before but definitely not now!
And I walked away.
I understand that charity need to do this to raise money but there is no need for them round be so rude!
WIBU?

"no, I'm not deaf, I just ignore arseholes with tins"

Passthecherrycoke · 13/08/2019 12:44

They’re not directly employed by the charity and probably couldn’t care less about deaf children- it’ll be prostate cancer tomorrow, it said just another shift for them I’d just forget about it even though he was a rude bastard

There's type of fundraisers are the worst. Not employed by the charity. Actually have very little to do with them, and the company keeps a huge portion of donations. If you want to give to a charity do it online or at a recognised centre. The quicker this sort of fundraising disappears the better!!!

Ask him for his charity id - or name & report him to charity or the police if he doesn't have one

....I hate to think what ‘clever’ line he’d come up with to get your attention if he ever does get hired by a prostate cancer charity!
