To start a thread because I'm stuck in CDG Airport and miserable?

I'm in CDG Airport, we have a connecting flight, delayed by 4 hours, we've been sent yo about 3 different places before finally ending up sitting waiting in the terminal that is being remodelled, with no children's areas or anything to do, I managed to leave my SLR on the flight from Heathrow, tucked under the seat in front of me, guess I won't see that again...no way of speaking to anyone as a ll the h er lp desks closed at 8pm.. Kids (4and 9) are shattered, we already had a 3hr wait, now 7, managed to get a shit pasta salad (that DS wouldn't eat for dinner as it was the 'wrong pasta') and we now have a 10 hr flight to get through by which point they will probably be so overtired I won't get a hope of them sleeping...
So AIBU to start a thread for no other reason than I'm miserable, pissed off at myself about my camera and CDG is shit as there is literally nothing here but fancy shops which I can't go near as DS is a feral nightmare who will touch everything in sight and destroy anything he comes into contact with?

CDG is indeed a boring airport. My commiserations. No advice just saying that is indeed shite

Ah gods I was stuck there once. Fog in London and it was 23 Dec, there was a chance we wouldn’t get home for xmas. All I can say is at least you’re not stuck with an awful ex boyfriend OP!

Will the kids snooze in the lounge? Are you able to get a while they do?

Also are you on Twitter? Maybe tweet the airline about the SLR?

CDG is amazingly shit. Very few food options and barely any seating. Just crap. I hate flying there on business, with tired kids it’s just a nightmare.

I was stuck there once. I was so bored I ended up buying a ridiculously overpriced Chanel nail varnish and a similarly extortionate, very posh French doll for DD.

Now I come to think of it... that was 17 years ago

CDG is an awful airport.

To add I left my phone on a flight to LA, & did get it back a few days later. If under-seat then a good chance it has been handed to the lost property by the cleaning staff.

Aww it’s shit OP. I’ve been delayed and then cancelled on flights before and it’s a right pita. Where’s your final destination to? Hope you have a fab time when you get there. Ps contact the airline about your camera as soon as you can. You never know someone may have handed it in. Good luck x

I feel your pain, due to similar delay dramas we had 7 hours at Heathrow last week. I know it’s better than CDG but after no sleep on the overnight flight browsing the shops was the last thing I felt like.

Tell stories? I’ve made up some about passengers, the space time continuum and instellar space travel to mitigate the tedium. But really it’s totally rubbish.

It really is shit! We were sent to a terminal that had old fashioned arcade games and a sort of fancy play area next to a pret, which meant a while they played... But then were sent to another terminal which is shit, shops all shut, 2 places to eat..we are boarding in about 40 mins, I've put in a lost item request and will tweet air France too...just gutted, had that camera 9 years and it's never let me down, had a new ish zoom lens too and the charger, about 500 quids worth..I'm such an idiot. Might have had s little cry when I realised what I'd done. There was a medical emergency on the plane as we landed and there was fuss about if we could get off or not, then all of s sudden we could, I just completely forgot it was under the seat when trying to get the kids sorted..
The kids are bring very good though and there are usb chargers for their kindles and my phone so that's something...
It would be very expensive if I could bear to take DS into any shops but he is a disaster, he isn't able to leave anything alone, literally has to touch everything... and he will go rigid and not move if he spots something he wants.. so I've just avoided completely anything that was open.

I'm hoping the cleaning staff would find it, it's a massive camera bag. I'm such a twat.
They are quietly watching shite on YouTube and reading now...we've done wrong way up the travelator...several times...just DS though, whilst I shouted at him to stand still and got disparaging looks from french mums and their perfect children...

Definitely tweet the airline as well as other forms of communication. Good luck with it all.

Ok, which bloody buggering twat designs seats in airports do they have s massive uncomfortable arm rest that can't be moved, therefore stopping anyone from lying down?I hate them.

I do feel for you but it reminds me why we chose only short haul flights with kids. I appreciate that some families need to travel long haul to see family but it is hell when there are delays. Unfortunately there is little you can do except roll with it. Hoping that you aren’t delayed for longer.

You have my sympathy. I have nightmares about CDG airport. It is an awful place.

Thanks, arrived in Shanghai (to see family, for work and s holiday) finally...hoping Camera turns up, dealing with 2 jetlagged kids now...
