Holiday near Barnet

AIBU to think that we can have a holiday somewhere near Barnet?
We had a week booked on Anglesey but my FIL is seriously ill so we need to be somewhere near Barnet but can't go and stay with PIL as it will be too much for MIL.

AIBU to think that we could have an OK holiday with me, DS age 8 DS age 4 and DH but still be close to FIL?

We would ideally like to spend less than £1000.

I'm trying to make the best of it for the DCs, particularly as this is the only week off that DH has in the school holidays for the next year.

Thanks for reading

Find an AirBnB near your FIL and do daytrips into London. If you try for somewhere within walking distance of Cockfosters tube, you could get in and out on Piccadilly line. There's also a Go Ape a small wildlife rescue centre and pony riding at Trent Park as well as it just being a lovely big park for a runaround. If you have the car with you, there's also Willows Farm not too far away, worth a day trip too. Hope your FIL gets better soon x

Hi,

I'm not sure if this would be in budget during the school holidays, but Woburn Centre Parcs is not that far from Barnet and we had a great time with similar aged children. The Air b'n'b is a great suggestion which might be cheaper. You can easily trips to London and National Trust type places from Barnet.

I hope you enjoy your holiday.

Thanks both. I think that you are right that centre parcs might be too much but I'll check it out.

A bit further round the north circular, but there’s a brilliant (cheap) campsite in Loughton, north east London.

Also have a look on FB, there are some good holiday let groups, saw one last week £170 per week for a 3 bed house.
