to ask who's the parent?

A girl in my ds's class at school (year 2) never wears a school uniform, just her own clothes. I have always wondered why and the child came up in conversation with another mum (who is friends with the childs mum). Other mum said it's because the child just doesn't want to and the parent's don't force her to do anything she doesn't want to, no other reason why.

AIBU to think it's not a matter of forcing a child to wear a school uniform but that it's a basic expectation? Can't imagine it will go down too well when they move from infants to juniors and secondary! I know it's non of my business really I just just think that that level of pandering is ridiculous 🤔

How do you know there are no other issues at play? It’s highly unusual for a school with a uniform policy to ignore one student not following it if there wasn’t a good reason.

Sounds similar to a friend of mine whose 3 year old DS wears pyjamas almost constantly 🙄 there are no sensory issues as far as I’m aware. He just likes wearing them and my friend says she likes to “pick her battles”. Personally I think appropriate dressing is quite an important battle to pick but there you go.

Some people don't like uniform. I don't. It's not compulsory before secondary school so no reason to wear it if you don't want to.

I don't really see why it effects anyone else. They are being parents, they are making decisions about how to raise their child within an acceptable boundary of their needs being met.

Oh who cares?! Trump's president, Boris is PM, Britain's crashing out with no deal, Jeffery Epstein got away with killing his evil self before either he or his elite paedo mates could be brought to justice. And you're bothered about a kid wearing normal clothes to school? Have a grip, op, I've got some to spare.
