To ask for my money back?

Went to a new hairdresser yesterday (tried a few now to find one I like) and she has completely and utterly ruined my hair. I asked for blonde balayage (which I’ve had before and really liked) and I’ve ended up with this.

My DP says it’s ‘not that bad’ but I beg to differ! It’s patchy, orange and awful. I didn’t realise how awful it was until my colleague asked what had happened to my hair and took a photo to show me! I’ve messaged the hairdresser with photos attached to say I’m not happy. WIBU to ask for it to be fixed by a more senior stylist or for my money back?

Definitely go straight to the manager and show her the rude and u professional message the hairdresser sent.

OchMumItsJustMaBow · 10/08/2019 18:28

@CottonSock you’re more than welcome to it!

I paid £60 for the balayage, same as I’ve paid elsewhere.

If the manager fails to refund you and/or fix your hair AND apologise profusely make sure you leave a terrible review. It’s a disgrace that the hairdresser would blame your hair, any decent hairdresser would be mortified as you are a walking advertisement for their work.

Deemail · 10/08/2019 18:30

I'm sorry to say but it looks awful. It's like a lot of your strands of hair have 3 possibly 4 different colours in them, do I see pink tones on the right of the first picture?

Sianlouise432 · 10/08/2019 18:36

Did she put a toner on it as well? The ends look weirdly ashy and the rest golden/warm

OchMumItsJustMaBow · 10/08/2019 18:43

Yeah, after putting more bleach on my already level 9 bleached ends! Then a toner which has grabbed on the overbleached ends and turned them almost blue.

She’s grudgingly said she’ll fix it but I don’t want her anywhere near my hair again Sad

I’d love to say Yes, go back! But I am in the same boat, I’ve been sulking since Wednesday and now I feel like it’s too late to go back or even say anything. I’ve paid £110 for some (specified and illustrated) subtle balayage type highlights and ended up with streaks of brassy blonde. Showed her a pic of what I wanted (fairly simple) and had the same answer “no problem”.
I considered sending them a message on SM but then again what good would that do. I’m even too much of a chicken to leave a public review.

MrsGrindah · 10/08/2019 18:54

You don’t have to make a fuss. I would ring and speak to the manager arranging a time when you can go in and show her. Then say you want their senior colourist to correct it and your money back please. All nice and polite with a smile but firm. However, personally, I wouldn’t want anyone to touch my hair in that salon ! So you might want to find someone else but definitely get your cash back.

MrsGrindah · 10/08/2019 18:54

Also do it ASAP...the longer you leave it the more get outs you give them

OchMumItsJustMaBow · 10/08/2019 18:56

I’ve replied to her saying I wouldn’t feel comfortable letting her fix it and that I would either like it put completely right by a senior stylist or my money back please. I’m finding the whole thing wildly uncomfortable as I’m so placid and non-confrontational Sad

Update! I phoned the salon when they opened on Tuesday and spoke to the manager. Went in Friday for them to ‘have a look’ and they were so appalled at the state of it that they fixed it for me there and then FOC. Looks much better now!

Good for you OP for standing up for yourself!

The reply from the haidresser that did your hair was bloody appalling,I hope the manager had a word with her about good customer service and that they give her some more training because it sounds like she needs it.

ShirleyPhallus · 19/08/2019 13:49

Fab news! Can we see pics of the fixed hair?

timeforawine · 19/08/2019 13:53

Can we see a pic of the new hair :-)
Glad it got sorted and hopefully they'll re-train the original hairdresser!

summersherewishiwasnt · 19/08/2019 14:10

It’s patchy def I would want refund. Not redye. It could ruin your hair.

messolini9 · 19/08/2019 14:13

She’s replied to my message saying it’s not her fault my hair is so dark

& it's not your fault she failed to assess your hair colour properly, despite the consultation & a 3.5 hour process.

Even I know that's not balayage ffs. She should be embarrassed & apologetic. Good luck with the manager.

messolini9 · 19/08/2019 14:14

oh whoops, just seen last update - hurrah, & what a relief for you.

RhiWrites · 19/08/2019 14:17

Can I see a new photo of it fixed? I’m a bit confused by everyone saying it’s obviously wrong because I thought it looked alright.

HaileySherman · 19/08/2019 14:28

It doesn't look terrible OP, but if its not what you requested and paid for then eithrr they should fix it or refund you. And your hair being too dark? She's a HAIRDRESSER! A professional would know how to handle it.

OchMumItsJustMaBow · 19/08/2019 15:47

It’s still not 100% perfect as you can still see a band of a much lighter blonde where the first toner has grabbed but this should lighten with a couple of washes.

She also had to fix the cut because it looked like the first girl had been at it with a knife and fork.

That's 100% better - hurrah!

So much better!
