Two days to go. Stay or go?

I know I'm not 'bad kitten' but I was up there a few days ago- is this because of the weather?

zeezee3 · 09/08/2019 11:10

Eh? Confused

zeezee3 · 09/08/2019 11:11

If this was aimed at a particular poster, why not just PM them? Confused

YouTheCat · 09/08/2019 11:12

LEM, have you had a nice time so far? Do you feel like you've had a break? If the next two days are going to be really bad weather I'd probably cut my losses and go but don't tell your mother .

Flappyfishy · 09/08/2019 11:13

We've been constantly looking at the met office app as there are high winds predicted in Somerset and we were supposed to go camping from tomorrow night..... We're not going :-( I keep hoping things will change, but it's looking more and more likely that the winds will be pretty bad from later on today, to 5pm on Saturday and even then, it could be longer.

Tents seem to be mostly OK up to 30-40mph if you pitch right (according to all the websites and forums I've been reading) but the winds seem to be looking like they'll get up to near 50mph and I don't want a broken tent.

Hope the weather changes where you are!

squarecat · 09/08/2019 11:14

depends where you are - but forecast is pretty rotten. The reality of a slow drive up the M5 or A303 with wet tent in the back is what you need to decide is for today or Sunday!

StarWanderer · 09/08/2019 11:17

It's surprisingly fine here at the moment. Not as bad as the forecast says it should be. Prob depends where abouts exactly you are!

swampytiggaa · 09/08/2019 11:21

Where are you? I’m in Bideford and the forecast is for rain all weekend... however it blows in and out. Presume the coast is worse than slightly inland. I imagine the tent will already be wet from the overnight rain...

TheoriginalLEM · 09/08/2019 14:43

Zeezee I can't recall her name properly and lots of folk know her and what my cryptic message meant.

Youthecat - it has been lovely thank you for remembering, and yes I feel I've had a break. I've done what i wanted to do so we've packed up and left. We are making a detour of 75 miles to sidmouth to get dd a waffle on a stick and I have some budget left so will treat ourselves over the weekend.

50mph winds predicted and last night I had no sleep due to high winds and I'm surprised I didn't leave my tent to find a cowardly lion, a scarecrow and a tin man and that was at 30mph we were pitched on top of a hill in lynton

OYBBK is very knowledgeable about weather patterns and long-range forecasts, but she isn't clairvoyant. Smile

Hazardtired · 09/08/2019 14:56

@ohyoubadbadkitten I think it's two bads

boomshakalak · 09/08/2019 15:03

Winds are up to 34 according to the MET.

Try and find something indoors to do? Big campsites like Gold Coast have lots on indoors for the kids. Or head to Ilfracombe to see the two headed cat in the museum and go to the arcades - aquarium is cute too. Cinema is lovely as well.

Hope the weather isn't what they predict! Quite often here it's better than they say - we have a bit of a micro climate going on.

boomshakalak · 09/08/2019 15:05

Sorry just seen you've left already! Safe journey

TheoriginalLEM · 09/08/2019 15:16

There's a two headed cat? That's pretty cool ! One of our issues is we have two dogs with us so indoor stuffmistly ruled out. Live ilfracombe
