To think I could need stitches?

I've had this cut for over a week.

It won't bloody scab/heal over. I've tried plasters but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. I've also tried 'airing it out' (I've been told that's a myth) and that hasn't worked either.

It's bloody painful and I can't even grip a pen properly with it Sad

Possible stitches needed?

As I got older I've found cuts take a lot longer to heal, especially on the hands. I had one a while back that took 7-10 days to close and heal over, very frustrating. I would say that no you don't need stitches, keep it as clean as possible and covered with a plaster and it will heal eventually.
Of course I'm not a medical professional but it doesn't look too serious from the photos.

Have you tried Hydrocolloid plasters? They heal wounds by keeping the area moist. Try using a heel blister plaster, or you can buy larger Hydrocolloid plasters in most pharmacies. You take care applying them, they can be left in place for up to seven days.

What did you do it on? I did the same place on a broken toilet cistern and it's scarred. Never had it seen to. Bled for ages!

It's going to heal from the inside out now, and you may well find the edges die back further as that happens.

Stitching wouldn't help because those edges are never going to seal together now.

They won’t stitch that. It’s too old. Butterfly it with sticky strips and try not to move it.

Could you try something like this:

Thanks all!

I'm quite young so don't think age is impacting the healing process.

I think I'll try those special plasters.

I done it on a kitchen knife Blush

That doesn’t need stitches as others have said it will heal from the inside out

msmith501 · 08/08/2019 14:56

Liquid plasters

rideordie · 08/08/2019 15:52

If I got it seen to at the time I cut it, do you think I'd have got stitches?

Butterfly ones at best

Stressedout10 · 08/08/2019 16:08

Super glue works every time (you will have to reapply after baths)

Cobblersandhogwash · 08/08/2019 16:12

Germolene new skin is great for small wounds like this that stubborn to heal.

Stings a bit but knits the edges together.

Karigan195 · 08/08/2019 16:26

No it’s tiny and doesn’t need proper stitches just butterfly’s
