Almost 3 year old genuinely not interested in potty training??

I remember being one of those judgemental people who would read about kids going to school not toilet trained and saying "huh, my kids will be potty trained by 2"
LOL.
My almost 3 year old boy is not interested in the slightest about toilets, poo, potties, nothing. I've tried putting a pair of pants underneath his nappy so hed feel uncomfortable if he filled it, (the idea being hed ask me to change him) but as I discovered he will continue his day with poo in his pants until I spot it.

In the summer months I've been letting him run round without any bottoms on at home, following him everywhere with a potty, sitting him on it multiple times. Again, no connection made. Same with the toilet. I've tried the reward sweets but still doesn't get it. I'm worried hes going to be the only one in nappies when he goes to pre school soonish.

I've been told to wait until hes ready, but when will he be ready?

Mine too. He refuses. We even leave him butt naked and he’s happy to have a wee/poop on the floor! We’ve tried everything so understand your dilemma. :-(

We sit him every half hour. He will wait till he gets off to go. He’s in pre school next September and I’m afraid he will be the only one in nappies too! He will be three in September this year.

It's fine. Don't panic. My daughter declared it was too hard for her at 3 so I left it and she decided to do it on her own 6 months later. Done and dusted in three days. My son I did at 3 with no signs of readiness - if not even a sign of clicking after 48 hours, I was going to stop but he got it and was very happy with a reward chart.

Are you doing bare bum and putting him on the potty every 30 mins? It takes that level in the first little whilw

Have you tried giving LOADS to drink so he needs a wee regularly? Wee is generally cracked quicker than poo IME .

I'm in the same boat with my three year old.She is obsessed with toilets though and keeps putting her Barbie's on them but will not use a potty herself:((

Thanks everyone! So nice to know I'm not alone. Will Definitely go hardcore with sitting him on the potty, setting a timer for every 30 mins now!

Three year olds are still very young. There will be others in preschools in nappies. Don’t worry until he’s going into reception. I know a few who are potty trained at 4.

My dd is 3 in nov and I've been on and off trying her since June and she's not one bit interested 🙄 she said she doesn't like it and wants her nappy's.

Ds was like this! He finally got it with wees at a few months past 3 yrs but with poos not till 4Blush he was doing them overnight in a nappy!
One thing I would suggest is pressure off as much as possible. Yes sit him on potty/toilet frequently but just refer to this as potty time not trying to do a wee or poo, sit for no more than 5 minutes, distract with a story, Peppa Pig video, blowing bubbles, whatever he's into. If nothing happens make no fuss just get up and carry on. My ultra stubborn ds got quite resistant if he felt there was pressure on him, he only got it when we relaxed a bit!
