Loads of bumps came up on my leg yesterday but they were just white and itchy. Today they’re bright red with crusty heads on and the whole area is swollen. I’ve got an appointment at GP this afternoon but really don’t want to go if I don’t have to.

I would go, not a doctor though. It looks very red.

Siennabear · 05/08/2019 13:11

Red , hot to touch skin is a sign of infection. Best see your gp.

Nautiloid · 05/08/2019 13:11

I mean I'm not a doctor! Not that you don't need one.Smile

Daffodils07 · 05/08/2019 13:12

It could be bites which you have reacted to, I would try some antihistamine to see if that helps.
Obviously you already have a doctor appointment just incase it is an infection.

skinnyamericano · 05/08/2019 13:14

I always check things like that with my brilliant chemist first, but you may be a bit short of time before your appointment now?

TheBadNeighbour · 05/08/2019 13:16

Well I was at gp this morning to get some stitches out so asked nurse to have a look, she looked at said it was red hot and so made me an app to go back this afternoon

It's reasonable to get them seen; but they could well be unpleasant reactions to insect bites, so don't go in on the assumption that you will need antibiotics, see what the doctor thinks when you get there.

TitsInAbsentia · 05/08/2019 13:17

Yes, you should still go to your GP!

PotterHead1985 · 05/08/2019 13:18

Deffo see the gp. Better safe and all that.

bigbluebus · 05/08/2019 13:22

A bona fide healthcare professional tells you that you need to have them looked at by a doctor and you come on Mumsnet and ask if they need to be looked at by a doctor??? Why?

paap1975 · 05/08/2019 13:26

Looks like an allergic reaction to insect bites. Mine are always really hot.

Evilmorty · 05/08/2019 13:28

My bites go like that, a bit of topical steroid and an antihistamine will help with the pain until you can get to the doctor.

Bigbopboo · 05/08/2019 13:29

No. Just looks like a reaction to the bites. Take an antihistamine and put on some hydrocortisone cream

Bigbopboo · 05/08/2019 13:30

Crossed post with evilmorty!
