Buying a wheelie bin online?

Unfortunately there’s no excitement about bin thieves or rubbish scandals.

We just have a stupidly big garden that’s mostly grass and bushes.. that appear to be on steroids this year.

My question is do you think, or do you know, if the council would lift a bin (looks the same shape/colour/size) if I bought it online?
The council don’t offer additional recycling bins but our garden ones always over full n we’ve always got more garden crap. And they want a crime number if it goes a walk 😂

I think they'll Only lift one bin per household unless you’re family is large enough to qualify for a second bin. Thats how it is in my area anyway.

We often have this problem but our only solution is to buy biodegradeable garden waste bags and take the extra garden waste to the tip.

KnifeAngel · 04/08/2019 19:23

Ours have our council sign on them so no they wouldn't empty a new one with no sign on them.

Winterfellismyhome · 04/08/2019 19:24

All of ours get put on the pavement, i doubt they count how many bins there are per household

AJPTaylor · 04/08/2019 19:25

That won't work. Do you have neighbours with space in their bin?

Bluntness100 · 04/08/2019 19:25

It depends on the council. I have two non recycle bins, they lift them both, one I bought on Line. My neighbours have two recycle bins, one they bought on line, they also lift them both. But our bin men are lovely. Even if I have a lot of extra shit and run out and ask them to take it, they take it.

Every council is different.

ThomasHardyPerennial · 04/08/2019 19:29

Why don't you start a compost heap?

TidyDancer · 04/08/2019 19:30

Ours won't empty a second bin. Can you take the extra waste to the tip?

Lunafortheloveogod · 04/08/2019 19:40

We don’t know the neighbours well enough, certainly not to take over half of their bin space up 😂.

I’d suggested a compost heap but the only neighbour dp’s properly met complained when grass cuttings blew into their garden n demanded he swept it.. from their lawnHmm, so I don’t know how thatd go down if there was any wind.

There’s over 200 houses on the road so surely they wouldn’t count an extra bin, maybe I could cover where the council mark is with bin stickers 😂.

Can’t get to the tip and ours don’t mention extra bags.. besides that they won’t collect them for general n paper
