We'r staying in an apartment near the beach in Perranporth and wondering where we can pick up a loaf of Gluten-free bread?

A supermarket?

Ladyofletters · 04/08/2019 09:54

Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s, local farm shop, sometimes Aldi.

Can you not use your phone to google Gluten free bread Perranporth?

ODFOx · 04/08/2019 09:55

There's a decent sized coop in the middle of town which is beg enough to stock gluten free, otherwise the Morrisons in Newquay.

Hoghgyni · 04/08/2019 09:56

Google your nearest Tesco Express. If not, pop into Newquay or Truro. We do have gluten intolerance in Cornwall, but if it was that crucial for the first day of your holiday, you really should have brought your own, as every tourist with special dietary requirements tries to bulk buy on the Saturday afternoon/Sunday morning.

perrywotsit · 04/08/2019 10:02

Where is the Tesco Express in Perranporth? I don't think there is one.
We don't have a car so need somewhere local (and yes, I tried Googling but it didn't help).

YABFU

If you have a food condition or requirement surely you research this before going?

Why also post on “AIBU” if there is no question?

For goodness sake... posts like these should somehow be automatically filtered

We travelled light (by train, bus) and were expecting a Tesco delivery this morning but they let us down.

Hopefully someone may be able to help.

Your Google must be broken because mine tells me there are 2 co-ops, a Londis and a Premier all on the main road running through Perranporth.

Panicwithbisto · 04/08/2019 10:12

The Co op? Surely there should be some there!

Lockheart · 04/08/2019 10:14

A quick google tells me there are a number of shops which might meet your needs. At least 2 Co-ops and a Londis.

Why would you not just Google it? I'm not even anywhere near Cornwall!

Panicwithbisto · 04/08/2019 10:14

There’s a Sainsbury’s or Waitrose in Truro, or a big Tesco.

perrywotsit · 04/08/2019 10:17

We've obviously tried the Co-Op and Londis, otherwise I wouldn't be posting. But thank-you for bumping the thread - hopefully someone with more local knowledge will spot it soon.

If the CoOp doesn't have any (unusual), and you've tried every other shop, there aren't any other shops in the main town. Londis, CoOp and Premier is all there is unless you can drive.

Welcome to the lives of the locals.

Maybe ask in one of the cafés if you could buy a roll if they have one.

JaneDoeRayMeMeMe · 04/08/2019 10:29

Why didn’t you ask at the Co-op and Londis? Or is that obvious too?

EggysMom · 04/08/2019 10:31

If you've googled the shops in Perranporth, have been in and asked, and they have none; well you've probably done as much as any of us can. I think you'll have to get on a bus and head to a larger town.

Hoghgyni · 04/08/2019 10:32

I suggested googling Tesco Express to give you all the local convenience stores in the area. It sounds like you are out of luck. As I said, every tourist comes to the coast thinking there will be an endless supply of gluten/dairy free produce and the shelves empty really quickly. If it's that desperate, you need to get the bus into Truro & go to the big Tesco at Lemon Quay, M&S virtually next door or the Co-op on the main street.

LateMumma · 04/08/2019 10:33

Have you tried both Coops OP? There's one at each end of town. Have you tried Berrymans - not sure if they do GF?

KindergartenKop · 04/08/2019 10:33

Give them rice.

dementedpixie · 04/08/2019 10:35

Gluten free cereal instead?

PhDone · 04/08/2019 10:42

You can make sandwiches with rice cakes :)

rocknrollchicken · 04/08/2019 11:14

There's a cafe /bakery in Newquay in front of the big Sainsbury's called Cafe Cloud that sells lots of Gluten free stuff. It's pretty pricey though
