I have just electronically signed my tenancy agreement for my new place. I pick up the keys at 12pm tomorrow!

AIBU to go into complete panic mode now?

Backstory: I have been living in a Women's Refuge for the last 8 months. I've finally got the keys to my own place in a new county, with no violent ex

Totally natural to panic!

Congratulations on your new home.

I always get nervous when I pick up the keys. For me the tenancy seems like a long time, it's a new area etc but see it like a new start!

It sounds like you've come an awful long way, you've got yourself a new place to turn into a home, make new friends and enjoy yourself.

Many congratulations! It is very natural to panic when you've made a big life change, but it will be so much better.

Fight or flight mode was a daily occurrence for me for a good year or two after I escaped XH, it's a reflex after living in fear for so long.

Totally normal, and massive congratulations on your new home. I hope you'll be really happy there!

I just can't believe after everything I have been through I'm finally at the other end of it!

I'm just scared of living on my own for the first time in forever!

Congratulations! Of course it’s a bit scary after all you’ve been through and it’s a massive change. But you deserve to be happy and I’m sure you will be in your new place, free and safe at last. I’m so pleased for you. Good luck and I hope you find your happiness x
