To think I’ve given myself food poisoning

MrsMaow · 31/07/2019 21:33

I’ve just realised the peas I ate for dinner were from a pack that has been defrosted and refrozen several times as they were being used as an ice pack. I meant to throw them away but just forgot until now.

How ill am I going to get? SadEnvy

They're peas. I think you'll be fine.

YeOldeTrout · 31/07/2019 21:34

The quality might be poor (bad taste) but that doesn't normally make someone very ill. Germs don't spontaneously generate.

Neverender · 31/07/2019 21:36

Nah! You'll be ok - it's not chicken Smile

FenellaMaxwell · 31/07/2019 21:36

If it was chicken you would be, but peas, you’ll be fine.

Sunnydays999 · 31/07/2019 21:39

Peas ! Thought you were going to say chicken or rice ! You will be fine

Duchessgummybuns · 31/07/2019 21:41

You’ll be reet

AnxiousMcAnxiousFace · 31/07/2019 21:46

Surely you can trust a pea? I trust peas.

AuntieGT · 31/07/2019 21:50

I think you’ll be fine, I presume you cooked them? Spare me a though, I ate rotten eggs today, dh didn’t notice and cooked me them for brekkie. I had a few mouthfuls and had also given some to my baby before noticing the off taste! Preying we don’t get seriously ill.

justasking111 · 31/07/2019 21:56

you will be fine.

ThreeLeggedCat · 31/07/2019 21:57

Give peas a chance Grin

Heychickadee · 31/07/2019 21:58

I’ve done this before. In fact I made 3 meals with ice pack peas before my partner asked me why his bag of peas was open. We were all fine.

DramaAlpaca · 31/07/2019 21:59

You'll be fine. Stop fretting.

michaelbaubles · 31/07/2019 22:07

Peas will be fine.

And Auntie, I doubt very much you ate rotten eggs - you'd never be able to even cook one, they stink the house out as soon as you crack them.

MissClareRemembers · 31/07/2019 22:07

@ThreeLeggedCat 🤣

Knittedfairies · 31/07/2019 22:11

Peas? I was expecting to read chicken too. And yes to the PP who said you'd know if you'd cracked a rotten egg; they stink.

Lougle · 31/07/2019 22:16

If you cooked them in boiling water, then the bacteria won't have been able to survive. It's rice that you have to be really careful with, because it can harbour Bacillus cereus, which can survive cooking.

AuntieGT · 31/07/2019 22:29

Michaelbaubles that makes me feel a bit less worried. I always assumed a truly rotten egg was 100% obvious. I think they were just on the turn, enough to taste bad but hopefully not dangerous!

Queenioqueenio · 31/07/2019 22:35

You’ll be ok, it’s only peas.
I inadvertently ate a yoghurt which was 10 days out of date. Not so much as a belly ache.

MillicentMartha · 31/07/2019 22:46

ThreeLeggedCat -
Give peas a chance Grin

I just made a weird honking noise.

MrsMaow · 31/07/2019 23:00

Thanks all especially @ThreeLeggedCat for making me laugh

I’ll not be peased if you’re all wrong though. That’s terrible but I’m BU and about to press post without deleting it anyway.

Fuck it I should have said I’ll be peased off. Now I’m just embarrassing myself
