Eerily coincidental or something more?

I’m going through a lot of family turmoil and sadness at the moment. I feel empty, drained with nothing left in the tank so to speak. I read a thread yesterday about angels . Can’t find it . It was interesting . General idea is that if you ask for help or guidance from your angels you will get a sign etc. Thought it was a bit mental .
However, since asking for guidance and help from a higher being , I have seen a constant of repetitive numbers since eg 13 13, 11:11, 17:17 etc on clocks,signs, tv etc. Am I finally going mad? Has this happened to any of you before?

Just confirmation bias I'm afraid. You must have looked at the time at other points too, you just remember these ones because they're what you're looking for.

Nope you just happen to be looking at the clock at that particular time. Sorry to hear about your family turmoil. Been there, for me it got better, wishing you the best, it is really tough.

I see numbers like this quite often. I choose to believe that they are a good sign. If they help you to feel some comfort through your tough times, then that can only be a good thing. There is lots of info on numerology online which you may find interesting. It’s not for everyone!

As the others have said, a combination of confirmation bias and pure coincidence, OP. Best wishes for things getting better.

And your first instinct about that thread about angels being deeply silly was quite correct. While we have birds, encountering feathers isn't going to be a supernatural sign. And those cute little Christmas-card robins people also seem to see as signs from the beyond so often are in fact dementedly territorial fighters who spend the majority of their waking life chasing other robins out of your garden.

People do believe these things, and find comfort in them.

I find feathers at certain times in my life, always related to one thing, and I find it comforting. I am aware that they come from birds, but their placement and timing is accurate in respect of what is happening in my life, and although I know it is most likely a coincidence, it happens very often.

OP, if it comforts you, believe it while you need to, when you don't need the comfort any more it will stop happening. Some people believe in religion, and other things that are unfounded, it is your choice. (I am not saying that religion is unfounded, some other beliefs are) it is an individual decision to make and believe in.

It's confirmation bias but I still think you can enjoy it for what it is.

It's common to enjoy looking for patterns in numbers. I do it all the time. I particularly like palendromic numbers.

I am not superstitious and I don't believe in anything spiritual but I love a lovely number 😊

I think if it helps you to believe it then don't let anyone tell you otherwise. At the end of it all everything is about belief whatever form that may take.

Just for a minute let’s start from the premise it’s not coincidence. What do you think the numbers mean? You asked for guidance. They don’t guide. Premise makes no sense. Sorry.

Happens all the time to me with the numbers. I look at the clock and it's 1.11 or 2.22 or 3.33.

I see 11:11 a lot after listening to Art Bell on Coast to Coast AM years ago. Can't remember what is means though!

Happens to me pretty much every day. On Sunday, went to local shop, got to the till and a lady’s shop before me came to £8.88 - mine came to £9.99 - the assistant was actually spooked! I asked the lady behind me if her shopping might come to £10.10 and she looked down at her lottery ticket for a moment and said “it will be ten pound something yes!”
The clock thing though, honestly it’s every day for me - I look at it and it’s same numbers 13:13, 21:21 etc.
I also will say something a millisecond before someone on tv says the same word.... I’ve had dreams that have happened as I was dreaming them... I’m obviously different

I do go to Spiritualist churches so have some beliefs but I have a friend who thinks everything is significant such as finding 'pennies from heaven' with significant dates etc. I always try to see a rational reason for things first.

I must admit that she and her partner have often said how they keep finding playing cards as they are walking along. I just politely make the right noises but privately think they attribute too many things to 'The Spirit World'.

I recently walked along chatting to them about normal things like her two grandchildren and everyday stuff when my friend casually pointed and said to her partner "There's a playing card Adam". He picked it up casually and they just carried on with the previous conversation as we continued down the road.

I was actually stunned. I've never found a playing card lying on a pavement or just in the road ever.

Actually I wonder what would happen if we all asked for a very specific sign to be presented to us. I wonder what the probability is of it happening?

I did do that some years ago and asked for 3 signs without specifying anything. Within a week I believe I had 3 signs but I don't want to be pilloried on here so won't say what they were.

I believe in them but gather the majority of Mumsnet aren’t into this sort of thing.

Look up angel numbers and numerology if you want to go down the rabbit hole.

Please don't take offence to this op but when I was having a mental breakdown feeling drained with nothing left I was also seeing signs of things that were not there. Please look after yourself and seek medical help if you must
