Jobs for a 15 yr old over summer

I've a lovely but desperately bored 15 year old son at home for the summer holidays. All he wants to do is work but at 15 I can't find any employers willing to give him part-time/summer jobs...

Any suggestions ?

My 15 year old has been washing cars at a garage. He gets €5 per car.

voluntary work?

Do you have a power washer? Washing the neighbours' patios?

Try the local market. Stall holders usually pay cash in hand

My 14 year old is a bedmaker in a holiday park. My 16 year old is a kitchen porter in a small restaurant

What about applying in a cafe or restaurant and agreeing to stay on for weekends and the odd evening after the summer ends?

Make him look if he wants to work, he should be a whizz on the net and find plenty, why is it your search?
In my experience it's chip shops, small shops and all the above mentioned that will accept a teenager.

Mine found it hard to get summer jobs before they had a NI number at 16, so spent the summer before volunteering so that they had some experience to put on their CV when applying for jobs the following year.

My DD got a job in a café when she was not quite 16 but there are different rules about the use of knives etc. which makes it more difficult. One of her friends had a job washing pots in a pub at 14 but no one else had anything.

I think it can depend on where you live - some parts of the country have additional summer PT jobs around tourist trade.

Where we live DS was unable to find PT work at all post GCSE / 1st year 6th. A couple of his friends had shop jobs but sounded like they were right time / right place when they asked. A few DC we know had paper rounds from local free papers.

You don't need to wait til you have been sent your ni card you apply for it early on the phone.
