To put the camping toilet in the shed?!

So it's my DD2 Birthday in a few weeks & we usually have a bbq for all her friends & drinks for the parents. Our house is a 2 bed end terrace so not very large at all but we do have a large garden which is fab. The last few years with only having one toilet & up to 12+ kids under 10, well you can imagine the state the toilet/bathroom gets in! AIBU this year to use our chemical camping toilet in the shed for the kids to use? I think it's ok but I'm not sure the more I think about it. Obviously we would make the shed child friendly etc?

Have you never been in a school toilet??!

Which tend to be used by at least by 50 kids for 30 hours a week, not 12 for a couple of hours one afternoon.

I can't possibly see how you can have such an issue with the bathroom tbh, I hope the rest of your gathering is a little more relaxed. Weeing in a shed is grim - and this is from someone who regularly wees in fields and hosts weekend for 50+ guests with access to two toilets, although most use the same one. It's part of hosting, just wipe round each time you use the loo if you must.

Great idea. Would also do this.

BlackCatSleeping · 29/07/2019 22:47

Are you seriously suggesting my parties would not be fun because the children don't piss all over the toilet seat Hmm

Yes, she is! 😂

Loftyswops988 · 30/07/2019 08:44

I would not have been comfortable going to the toilet in someones shed as a child - I was very anxious and it wouldn't have felt a secure place to go. Aside from that i also would have been mortified if my mum had asked my friends to use a camping toilet in the loo when i was younger!

EleanorReally · 30/07/2019 09:19

jeez have you never been camping, all this fuss and hand wringing about hand washing

bernietaupinspen · 30/07/2019 09:28

Well no, I have not been camping. The idea of using a chemical toilet in someone's shed doesn't appeal to me much either.

I'm laughing at the suggestions of a portaloo though, it's a bloody BBQ not Glastonbury Grin

Ski4130 · 30/07/2019 09:31

That would not impress me at all op - a camping toilet in the shed says ‘I actually don’t want you in my house’ and I’d feel a bit uncomfortable.

fedup21 · 30/07/2019 09:34

It just sounds like you don’t want your guests inside your house!!

Sooverthemill · 30/07/2019 09:40

I was with you until I read that adults get drunk at a child's birthday party and you expect it! Wtf. Have a party for the 12 kids and have a separate drunken orgy for your friends and farm out your kids. Unbelievable

My husband built an out door privy for his 50th. Hole in the ground. Small shed like structure, plank with a hole in to sit on. He said a surprising amount of people had used it. And a lot of guests were 80+

So this sounds fine to me.

BowiesJumper · 30/07/2019 17:14

Portaloo hire isn't that expensive (even the ones with water in for the little sink). Is there anywhere next to your house that one could go for the day?

Deadringer · 30/07/2019 17:33

This wouldn't bother me but it sounds a bit of a hassle, surely it would be easier to just give your bathroom a really good clean after the party.
