To wonder if it’s possible to completely change personality?

Within reason of course.

I’m a naturally very shy and quiet person, but once you get to know me I have lots to say and I’m bubbly around friends.

Around new people and at work though, I just can’t seem to muster up the confidence to challenge/take charge of situations and I’d love for that to change! I miss out sometimes because I don’t speak up.

Has anyone gone from meek mouse to outgoing leader and if so, how did you manage it?!

Fake it until you make it. I've found that doing big attention grabbing things like karaoke sober has made it a lot easier to talk to people in general.

You can’t change your personality fundamentally, but if you have enough willpower then you can change your behaviour so it fits more with the type of personality you’d like to have. It would be very hard work but you might be happier for it.

Basic personality traits are fixed by adulthood, but a lack of confidence is it your personality.

Have you thought about trying some CBT therapy for confidence building? It would be ideal for this problem

Karaoke is a brilliant idea!

This was me. Meek and quiet and shy, chattier around friends, and now seemingly very confident, outgoing (I'm NOT) and a good public speaker. Putting myself forwards for doing presentations helped a lot. There's no way around other than straight through - once you've pushed yourself to speak up once it will be easier to do it again.
