I'm going out tonight with people I barely like.

Why did I say yes, and why haven't I cancelled. Urgh.

Life is too short - make up an excuse and enjoy your evening.

ainsliec · 26/07/2019 19:47

I'm nearly there Sad

Make an excuse and go home with a bottle of wine and a pizza!

HourglassTigger · 26/07/2019 19:49

Not helpful I know but...
Thank you for making me suddenly feel a whole heap better about my saddo Friday night home alone x

ladymariner · 26/07/2019 19:50

Who are they? Hopefully, it will be one of those nights where you don't want to go but end up having an ace time....🤞🤞🤞🤞

twirlypoo · 26/07/2019 19:50

Oh god life is too short. Text now and go home! You could be on sofa with ice cream within half an hour!

Namechangeymcnamechange11 · 26/07/2019 19:56

If you don't want to go, don't go! Sounds like my idea of hell.

What's that op? You've come over all dizzy and nauseous? Sounds like you need to head home and rest on the sofa... With a box set and some ice cream.

StillCoughingandLaughing · 26/07/2019 19:58

Can’t you develop a headache? Alternatively, get completely bladdered and tell them what you really think of them - then you’ll never have to do it again.

BobTheFishermansWife · 26/07/2019 20:13

Can you make excuses and leave early? Like 10 minutes after arrival?

PopGoesTheWeaz · 26/07/2019 20:18

Give it half an hour, and a drink and see how you feel. Totally fine to make excuses and leave but sometimes these are the funnest nights and how friendships are made

contentedsoul · 26/07/2019 23:10

That's the great thing about turning 50, you simply don't give a shit anymore. I've pretty become a recluse as I find my own company far more interesting than others I know...we used to be friends, but to be honest I find them sooo dull, vain and attention seeking. It got to the stage where planned nights out brought on near panic attacks...now my life is sweet.

PersonaNonGarter · 26/07/2019 23:14

Chalk it up. Say no next time.

Tonight, make it happen. Go in character. Talk like you are Dolly Parton or a bit part in a Russian spy thriller. Hit the karaoke and belt out Alice Cooper’s Poison. Don’t give a fuck.

IvanaPee · 26/07/2019 23:16

How did you end up in this position?!

EyesOfYuna · 26/07/2019 23:20

Do it! If they're not your people or it's not your scene, go home. You might find a friend for life if you give it a go.

ainsliec · 26/07/2019 23:46

It was dinner and it was really nice in the end! Oh the wasted angst.. honestly.

I always do this in some form or another Confused
