To think I can drive near Versailles?

I have an airbnb booked there next week. I will be driving there from a hotel 5 miles from DLP, and I am planning to drive from that hotel to DLP itself. Once we're at the Versailles apartment I plan to get public transport into the city; I wouldn't dream of trying to drive into the centre of Paris. However, a few people have raised their eyebrows at my driving to these places. I'll be the only adult. How bad will it be?

There is a big ring road around Paris which you use to get to both DLP and Versailles. It can get busy but is not the same as driving in the city itself. It's a bit like the North Circular in London.

Versailles and Disneyland are at opposite sides of Paris but there are roads that run between! It depends on how confident you are at driving round Paris. It's mainly the A4, so a major route, but it goes past Orly airport so can get busy. It wouldn't bother me but will do some people!

I have never been so lost as navigating the roads around Versailles. Take a very good satnav

Thanks - so big roads but not people making 6 lanes where there are really 3... or will they?

Shit - my satnav is...temperamental...

It's fine. Parking at Versailles is tricky so google best places. We ended up parking at the bottom end of the garden which was perfect but would never have found it without research. Also check the area of central Paris where there is a congestion zone. You have to get a sticker for your car if you want to go inside that zone. Don't forget your yellow vests and breathalyzers.

Drove to and from Versailles last year around this time. Absolutely fine, bit like London in place but just breathe and have a look at directions before you get into the centre to make sure you’re in the right lane.

Versailles as a lovely little city, really enjoyed our couple of nights there. Enjoy!

Also driving around there was a dream before getting to the centre. I think French roads are miles better than ours. Such chilled driving.

Have navigated loads of tricky places with small and big children and no adult partner. Check out route before you drive and remember if you take a wrong turn you don't have to keep going left around the whole world...(love Ellen Degeneres) You can actually stop/pull over any time you need to. And may the force be with you, etc etc...
