Mil is always going on about how we need to consume less and become more sustainable for the sake of the planet, everytime we see her she talks about it. She is very materialistic though. She is always decorating a room in her house and buying new furniture. She also goes on about 3 holidays abroad each year. Having a gift free Christmas or gifts for children only at Christmas would not be acceptable to her. She sends gift lists of what she wants before Christmas and her birthday. She complains if we don't send gifts to people who don't send us birthday or Christmas gifts. She is always sending cards for something. AIBU to think this is a bit hypocritical?

I wouldn't be able to resist a comment about holidaying locally to save on your carbon footprint but then I'm petty like that.

Of course she is, but in reality, all of us are hypocritical to a certain extent. I certainly wouldn't waste mental energy thinking about it. Just laugh to yourself about it because she certainly won't change.

NoSauce she uses lots of flimsy plastic bags rather than those more heavy duty supermarket bags for life or cotton bags. She probably thinks growing a few things in her back garden (she still buys the majority from the supermarket) is her contribution
