To want to move after 6 months

We've recently moved to a bigger house. It's lovely (not enormous at all, but very spacious). We decided to move because we were in a pretty pokey property before with 2 kids. It was fine but wouldn't have been a long term option ideally.

We previously lived in a great area of central london. Loads going on, easy to get to central london, galleries, lots of young people, hip etc. The area we've moved to still has a little centre with lots going on, but no one would call it hip. It feels so much further out than we were although I guess it's just zone 3. It just feels harder to get everywhere.

We moved to get more space for the kids and because it was a bit less urban, no drug deals going on every corner etc.

But with the holidays looming I'm really really missing where we used to live. I haven't got any friends here yet, despite trying to reach out on local school boards etc (eldest did starts in September). I just feel sad and regretful.

It takes longer than you think to settle somewhere. Take the time you have during the summer holidays to explore your new area and make it feel like home.

OP if moved quite a bit it always takes me a year to get settled.

Remind yourself of the benefits, ie why did you choose your new house. It takes a while to settle. Your children will make new school friends. Give it time.

Hang in there it takes a long time to settle! Remember all the reasons you moved out- and zone 3 really isn’t far! You can still go back to your old stomping ground but I sounds like you’ve made the right decision long term. Would you be happy to say where you are? I lived in zone 3 so might have recommendations if it was near me!

Thanks everyone, i know I probably need to give it a bit longer. I just had such a sense of community where we where, it's hard sometimes. I'm a bit reticent to say where it is, because I think it's too identifying but it's north london.
