Shit seems to be hitting the fan with iran.
They've just reportedly siezed a british flagged tanker but with no british crew on board, and siezed but released a Liberian flagged tanker but of a uk company.

Things are getting scary now, some very powerful people are currently engaged in massive willy waving competitions without any regard for the consequences.

Trump pulled out of the iranian nuclear deal, tightened sanctions on them and then has been threatening them in the media. Iran responded with threats. We've then had the shooting down of drones by iran.
An iranian tankered was then siezed under eu law by request of spain and the us by the british navy and royal marines. And now they've siezed a uk flagged tanker

If there is gonna be a war, it will only end badly for Iran, America already has 1 carrier strike group in the area, the carrier has around 65-70 planes on them, each strike group has around 20-30 ships and subs and America has 11 of these strike groups! You can bet we have subs in the area aswell! And Israel have been looking for a reason to strike Iran for years! Iran needs to stop siezing ships in international waters!

There won’t be a war even though Trump appears to be doing his best to sound like he wants one with sanctions and ending the nuclear deal which has of course provoked a reaction.

However, there won’t be a war and not for the reasons PP have given. Yes technically US could bomb the shit out of Iran but it’s not that simple which is why nobody ever really fucks with Iran. War with them would be far worse than war with Iraq. They have a lot of allied countries including Russia, China and India. It could lead to a world war. Not even Trump wants that.

There is an election coming in the US, so Trump is using the "threat of war" to boost his chances. A rational politician would not declare war because it would cause a drop in popularity. But we are talking about Donald Trump. So ... store food and batteries and water and pray.

It's a proportionate response to the seizure of the Iranian tanker at Gib.

We will be back to escorting vessels through the Straits of Hormuz, and in fact, if Iran is interfering with legal vessels in international waters (thus breaking the law), it's not just going to be the UK and US who get irritated with them. The US is pulling together a task force of Naval vessels for escort and patrol duties - we've been there and done that before.

I don't trust the Iranian govt anyway. Even with so called 'deal', I bet they were ensuring the capacity to be able to make a weapon anyway. I think the GCC will have to start flexing their muscles, and I note that the US is deploying troops to Saudi.
