Would you allow this to happen?

Would you allow your child to be pushed in a pram by somebody smoking a cigarette? Not in a confined place, very much a public area, but nonetheless pushing your child in a pram smoking?

Yes or No.

Personally, if I can avoid this happening then I do. I do not smoke and don't allow my baby to be pushed by anyone smoking, whether it's a grandparent or friend it's a big no no for me.

Am I being too precious?

No. They're only a baby for a short time and the risk of being around smoking gets less as they get older. Plus surely you can wait to have a fag for long enough to push a pram.

My thoughts exactly.

I would if the baby was facing away from the smoke and not downwind of it. I’d prefer it if whoever was pushing them just waited until later though.

newmomof1 · 17/07/2019 15:10

No. I don't think people should smoke where anyone else can breathe in their second hand smoke (I know this is impossible to police) and I definitely don't think people should smoke around children.

Shoxfordian · 17/07/2019 15:10

I wouldn't care

mbosnz · 17/07/2019 15:11

No. I wouldn't. I don't want them getting used to the smell, or being exposed to passive smoking.

RubaDubMum89 · 17/07/2019 15:13

I didn't smoke when I pushed my DD, so I absolutely wouldn't let anyone else do it!

Outsomnia · 17/07/2019 15:16

I suppose babies are immune to traffic fumes lol.

Look at all the environmental chatter now, it is all about reducing emissions. Never hear anything about cigarette smoke anymore, but that's presumably because it is banned most places now.

I would not have an issue with it personally once it was outdoors as it seems to be. Nice to have someone to stroll with your DC, if you say anything, that connection will be gone in an instant.

But I do understand what you say.

georgialondon · 17/07/2019 15:18

Never!

MmmBlowholes · 17/07/2019 15:21

Nope. I really don't like seeing it. I gave up smoking as soon as I got pregnant and whilst the temptation to start again is always present, I simply couldn't have my kids stinking of smoke, breathing it in, and looking at me - their role model - and thinking it's OK.

Butterymuffin · 17/07/2019 15:23

No. I wouldn't want anyone smoking while looking after my baby. I would want them to move away completely for that, e.g. to go out into the garden for a cigarette while baby napped. Not while pushing the pram.

Outsomnia · 17/07/2019 15:30

No drivers amongst the naysayers so? As I thought.

I agree with you all not wishing your kids to see smoking as normalised.

But there appear to be some double standards going on regarding the environment our kids are exposed to as a whole. Think about it.

dudsville · 17/07/2019 15:31

It always grates me when I see this.

MarthasGinYard · 17/07/2019 15:33

No

It's vile

Also Can't stand the smell of fag smoke on babies

Didntwanttochangemyname · 17/07/2019 15:33

All the smokers I know/knew have quit or died out, thank goodness. I hate seeing anyone smoke around a child though, so no, I wouldn't let it happen.

HirplesWithHaggis · 17/07/2019 15:35

Still wouldn't call a social worker though.

Funguy · 17/07/2019 15:37

It isn't ideal is it? But then again, it isn't the end of the world.
