To think expensive skincare isn’t worth it.

I’ve discovered The Ordinary Retinol Grin At £5-6 per bottle, it’s more than £30 cheaper than the product I had been using and it is just as good (if not better). I’m now replacing my entire skincare set with The Ordinary.

Am I missing something or is expensive skincare a rip off.

I was starting to think it was all a bit of a con until I tried la prairie skin caviar. It is far superior to any moisturiser I have ever tried.

Oh dear yarenbaren now I want to try that Wink

YANBU. There is nothing a luxury skincare brand can do which a budget one won’t to just as well. Olay Provital for me. That said I do like a bit of luxury on my body and am partial to L’Occitane.

I really want to use The Ordinary but can't understand it Blush It seems a lot more complicated than cleanse, tone, moisturise.

If expensive skincare worked the Botox/fillers/surgical enhancement arena would vanish.

Me too!

I lose the will to live long before I've read enough to work out what I need.

I’m working through it at the moment, but have a look at Caroline Hirons skincare freaks on Facebook, she makes everything make sense (and I secretly want to be friends with her as she’s hilarious) Grin

I'm 60 - and have been using Nivea moisturiser all my life. Once a week I slather Vaseline all over as well. I've never used any other product . I can honestly say I've got great skin and no wrinkles.

I was using the ordinary, but it tends to be a mix and match series where you end up buying lots of different things to get what is combined into one serum slightly more expensive brands. Ending up doing three layers (time consuming) and spending the same money as say Skinpep Anti-aging serum. Different combinations for am and pm, etc etc. Great stuff but too much faff for me. Also found the moisturiser took too long to absorb so more time was needed.

DelurkingAJ · 13/07/2019 10:27

Well, that depends. Nivea night cream...brought me out in huge spots. Plain soap and water...same but with an attractive oil slick down the middle of my nose. I have troublesome skin so I pay for Avene which means that for the first time since I was about 13 I’m not ashamed of my skin.
